Another wake up call, just like last year. I hope the coaches get a lesson learned from this, and make adjustments so this kind of thing is just a memory. Onward we say go Griz!!!
The players coasted second half and it cost them. Got caught in the quicksand and couldn't get out. Some bad coaching choices, sure, but the players couldn't seem to executeJust frustrating when you talk about "hope the letdown comes early". Say what you want about MSU, but do you think the Griz could have beaten UNM with how they are playing? NDSU and SDSU opened with FBS teams and played well and then both won by 3 scores or more and SDSU beat a #12th ranked UIW team. UND lost their veteran QB, had a brand-new offensive coordinator in his first D1 game, former walk-on starting at QB, and lost 4 O-Line starters from last year and we took their O-Line coach but who got outplayed? That is my frustration. Other teams seem to step up. Home field is too important to have these early OOC losses as I don't see UM in Frisco last year if the Furman or NDSU games are on the road.
That would require Bobby getting on his buddy for shitty playcalling.Another wake up call, just like last year. I hope the coaches get a lesson learned from this, and make adjustments so this kind of thing is just a memory. Onward we say go Griz!!!
Posters are not giving the und staff adequate credit for their 2nd half performance...The players coasted second half and it cost them. Got caught in the quicksand and couldn't get out. Some bad coaching choices, sure, but the players couldn't seem to execute
UND played great the second half, no doubt. Absolutely maddening watching the second half unfold after showing how well we could play in the first. After watching the game again, I came away feeling we were clearly the more talented team. One of those weird games where things just got away from everyone. Seems like we have had one of those every year as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, we used to win these games anyway!Posters are not giving the und staff adequate credit for their 2nd half performance...
This seemed like the type of game where we really missed Bergen. It was one of those games where late in the third quarter he would have busted a kickoff for a TD and gave us breathing room.Last year the staff seemingly hit every right button and corrected all the mistakes which we hadn’t seen in the previous couple years. There seems to be more to correct this year in some ways and less in some ways. I think the staff has to gel as much as the players do this time around. This non conference didn’t afford as many mistakes, and we made a big one on Saturday. I think it will be a wake up call.
The most disappointing thing Saturday was the offense. Our defense and special teams carried this team for the last half decade. The offense is our veteran group and for once needs to feel the pressure and urgency to perform as our defense did every damn time they were on the field. That first quarter showed the capability and explosiveness. Hope we start to see that as the strength of our team.
