Post Game: Error prone & short handed, Griz find a way

Ran into Olson’s dad at halftime and quipped we were underutilizing our tight ends. He chuckled and said “I agree”.

I don’t know if we didn’t see tight end targets because we were pushing the ball down the field and not relying as much on check downs or because we were using them more in pass protection. Will be interesting to see what our plan is against UND.

Olson and Barker played too and played well.

I think people tend to kind of forget, generally on a Hauck run team the Tight Ends job, in order is as follows;

1 - run block
2 - pass block
3 - fielgoal / pat block
4 - punt return block
5 - kick return block
6 - catch passes
Alas, that's a fair point and a good reminder. But imagine how unprepared opposing defenses would be if we moved #6 up the list to #3 from time to time.

Case(s) in point: Senior Erik Barker (a 3-star recruit) has 8 catches for 32 yards in 37 career games. RS-Jr. Jake Olson (6'7", 260 pounds) has exactly ZERO career catches in nearly 20 career games played. Perhaps they're just not going to be as good as we'd hope they would be, but it still boggles my mind.
