Post Game: Don't quit on these Griz

Favors has not shown a lot.
He has really had the opportunity, right? 20 carries for 106 5.3 average with no losses. Better average than JN who gets lots of losses (30 yards). 3 catches for 23. The kid needs more PT. Counts should also be available,

What I don't get...
1 First series dominating offense....touchdown
2. Second series dominating offense looking for a touchdown again...until we do a WR pass.

I seen 3 cute/gimmicky plays yesterday that were both drive and momentum killers...why?

EWU allowing 33 per game coming in; we get 16. It's not all on the OL as some here argue. We knew going in we would have to score more than 35 to win. 94 plays, 2 TDs. Even BSC coaching is figuring this out. It isn't DII.

practical ? in my mind is why not put in a "blast" goal line package for counts ? .... that seems like a reasonable thing to do, we won a game with just a few seconds with counts doing that before....just asking.....

7. Most new coaches take about 3-5 years to get there vision and players rolling. Take a look at Colorado or Washington State. Stitt is ahead of schedule.
In UM history, there is almost no support for this. For starters, the notion assumes all coaches get better. If so, the FCS should be filled with 20 and 30 year coaches. No one would ever get fired. It is a complete fallacy.

My take:

1. very talented but very young. WR are Sr=1, Jr=3, So=3, Fr=11
2. overall better TEAM than last year.
3. last year at this time = 4-4 (also 2 losses at home). this year 5-3. trending up. Only Stitt's second season.
4. Something like 40 new players on the team? Most of them Freshman.
5. Mick's 3 years at the helm. 5-6, 10-3 (but first round loss at home), 9-5 (first round win, but it was SD). I like the Stitt trend. See how the rest of the year goes.
6. Last year we had 3 stud WR's. Our young guy's will only get better.
7. Most new coaches take about 3-5 years to get there vision and players rolling. Take a look at Colorado or Washington State. Stitt is ahead of schedule.
8. We are actually rebuilding, but still getting winning records. That's not easy to do.
9. Gus was not recruited for this offense, but is doing a darn good job most of the time. Too bad he is just a giant lummox with his legs.
10. Bobcats suck.

Come on... really? Someone manages to weave the words "lummox with legs" into a thread and not one person calls POTY?

Eight games in, nobody is a newbie. If this QB gets the ball on your hands, you have to catch it. The trick play was great, had it been blocked better - Calhoun strolls in. If you use the same blitz package every game, people who get paid to notice these things by other teams will notice and trot out plays to exploit it. Stitt & Semore need to be able to adjust more quickly to what they are seeing. The NoCol game isn't a gimme. And by the way Kem, after the first quarter, our o-line play sucked. Played like they'd never seen a line stunt. That will show up great on film for all future opponents. Time for everyone who can to step up.

True statement on the "lummox with legs" comment. It was pretty funny. Plus,I think Yukon was trying to be complementary towards Gus, as strange as that sounds.....

Glad you said "almost" and I must have missed when the Griz were 3-2 this year.

Don't think you can beat up BG to much on this game, to many good passes simply bouncing off the hands and chest of the young WR's, they will improve.
The Playoffs start now in earnest !!!!

Over 90% of UM coaches have had their worst years at three years or after. How does that support your theory?

1. Stitt hasn't got to 3+ years yet, so your 90% stat is kind of worthless.
2. I was also referring to all of college football, not just the Griz.
3. It's an opinion, not a theory.

Go ahead and run the data on the history of all college football and get back to me. Just don't make mistakes like you did with this years Griz record of 3-2. Kind of messes up your thesis.

Do you imbeciles even read what you are writing? It's only Tuesday and you've already got yourselves convinced that the past two weeks were only a bad dream. Why should I be surprised, settling for mediocrity is the norm here since BH left. If you jock sniffers had half as much football knowledge as the real fans you wouldn't be here trying to find a few sugar-coated posts to convince yourselves everything is going to be ok, which it's not.

Here's how it plays out...Griz win the final 3 because they play 3 horrible teams and Stitt can't possibly fuck it up so bad that they lose, although he will try at Greeley and maybe get close to blowing it. All the hacks on here will spew about the stats and how this guy did this and that guy did that, team is clicking on both sides of the ball because they beat 3 teams that should have handicap stickers on their helmets. Then the NCAA will parade some nobody team who probably shouldn't even be in the playoffs into Wa-Griz because we have 18000 fans stupid enough to show up on Thanksgiving weekend to watch a mismatch and big brother wants to get paid. Another week of you pedestrian knuckleheads spewing clueless information and building the hype for ...the inevitable ass-kicking that will happen when the Griz hit a real team in round 2, just like every year since we started losing the Montana recruiting battle. People will bash me for this but trust me, I've had 28 former coaches PM me and I'm at the Mo Club with a few of them right now and they can't believe what is going on.

Your friend, Steve

The fact is, since Don Read, all UM coaches except Mick Delaney had their worst years at their third year or later, when they had their own recruits. Since Stitt is coaching at UM, and UM has a history since Don Read, the stats are relevant. The fact is, according to your opinion/theory, coaches get better when they get their own recruits. Likely only if they are coming into a program in shambles. The "only way is up" situation. UM's not there. It can go down.

Must admit. It took me until the "Montana recruiting battle" line to realize you weren't for real...

Man I thought "hacks" and "knuckleheads" would be the tip-off.

Hey Brint do me a favor. Keep your post game analysis to football and leave the fans out of it. Everyone deals with things differently and sure the hell don't need your mother hen approach to correction. :bad:

Kidding? Brint's one of only a very few guys whose comments are worth reading on this board
