This one will be brief as I'm typing this up from the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego - with an event to attend in less than 45 minutes. We wound up not being able to find a bar that had ESPN+ (apparently everyone here relies on satellite for TV) so we huddled around our phones watching the game. It was Mike and me, my wife, and Grizfan-24 (Clixby).
The Griz offense looked stuck again, even with Cam at QB. The running game had very little going - even against a moderately poor defense - and the offense kept getting stuck in 3rd and long situations which is always trouble for them. This felt like a game lifted right from the string of frustrating ones in October in some regards. There were dropped passes, more injuries, bad turnovers, and totally inconsistent play. There were some shining spots on offense, mostly Cole Grossman's performance, and then some good individual plays from Bergen, Roberts, Akem, Simpson, and a bit of an up/down day from Cam - who hopefully wasn't too dinged up at the end.
The defense is on fire again. Ford gets his 8th pick of the season which is simply astounding. Robby knocks a fumble loose and O'Connell scoops and scores. Graves hauls in a pick-6, Walker crushes NAU's small shred of hope with an end-zone pick. The defense played damn well, they're at the top of their game right now.
Special Teams has it's good parts, especially Money Macias. And it's less than good parts, a lost fumble on a punt and giving up a 60 yard kick return.
It's now cat week. Hopefully we hear on gameday soon.
