The real problem is that stupid inflateable football helmet the Griz have to run through when they come out of the tunnel. Griz football has been in a slow decline since they bought that thing. Not only does it look stupid, I personally would feel like a moron running through that rediculus spectacle. Can we please start a campaign to get rid of the inflateable helmet blow up doll. Other than that, their losing due to poor coaching preparedness, and really stupid in game decisions (all covered above). Maybe that inflateable helmet is affecting Stint's ability to make sound judgement calls. Does anyone know who was behind buying that thing? What does it really represent? the inflated ego's that led us to this point? SOEMONE PLEASE POP THE INFLATEABLE HELMET DOLL BEFORE ITS TO LATE!

Well, WTH? 95 yds rushing in one half? That's a pretty good rushing stat. Davis & Weber, as well as Liberty, had the Griz DL number on up-the-gut runs. The Griz DL gets blown off on those runs. Watch for it vs. UND, which I'm sure will test the Griz DL.

No, 95 yards in 31 carries in a half is not alot. It is very little. Combined with 25 yards of pass completions and 0 points, it is an excellent half. It is hard to discuss football with someone who doesn't understand that holding a running team to 3 yards per carry in a half is good.

You go to 3 per carry & yawn. I'm saying 3 per carry is meaningless, when our DL allows successive up the guts that advance the opponent to a TD. It's not 3/carry; it's more like, out of 95 yards, there were 60 run yards that resulted in a TD or FG. You can sugercoat what I see as a serious run D problem by using stats. I only know what I see on TV, and what I've seen of the Griz run D is not good.

I'm sure Coach Ty will correct this, because other teams will see Griz vulnerability up the gut. BTW, I'm not talking about 3d down conversions or goal line defenses. I'm talking about drives between the 20s.

I'm adding something of which you may not care, but gets a lot of objection to you as a member of this board: You didn't need to add that last sentence. I don't know if you're a trial lawyer or not, but if you are, no jury/judge would be swayed by comments you make in court like so many of your posts on this board. In fact, you would be seen as a prejudicial advocate, hurting your case, more. Why can't you see yourself as an advocate of your case on this board as if you were in a courtroom? Think about it.

Yep, stats certainly don't tell the whole story. Beside the 3 yard per carry average, Weber had control of the clock. Their coach seemed quite content shortening the game as long as the game was close, which it was the whole game. Neither team ever led by more than 7 points.

TG will have trouble correcting the run D until he finds another Tonga Takai. That's why not getting the Vista HS kid was a killer.....

I’m at kind of a loss for how to recap this, we all saw the game, felt the frustration, and now have the all the questions floating around. As I sat there and watched Weber cheer and then watched the Griz walk off the field I noticed the last two guys to leave. Tyrone Holmes and Jeremiah Kose. Holmes especially appeared so mentally and physically beaten down. To watch these guys walk off the field and reflect upon their work to get to this point, both as seniors. The prior seasons, the coaching transition, winter conditioning, spring ball, summer conditioning, pre-fall, the start of the season – and to this point now. I can’t even possibly imagine the frustration these men feel. Nor can I rightfully try to justify or critique these players as individuals because I simply can’t empathize with the emotions I saw on the field.

Let’s be clear on some things.

- This game wasn’t a “perfect storm” of bad luck and issues for Montana

- This game was yet another very rough showing for the offense in general

- This game wasn’t a lucky win for a Weber team playing out of its mind or above expectations

- This game was a sobering showing for the defense. They only allowed 17 total points… that’s good, but they gave up 260 yards of total rushing offense, got fooled the 3rd week in a row on a pass trick play, and suddenly showed a lot of over-pursuit and missed tackles.

- This game could have had a different outcome if our kicker who was 9-9 on short fieldgoals was given 1 or 2 attempts to narrow the score in the 3rd quarter.

- This was another game where the O-line couldn’t keep the QB safe.

- This was a game that the Griz should have won.

- This remains a team that could be 6-0 or 0-6 or anywhere in-between, which I suppose a 3-3 record is fitting then.

- The fans didn’t wake up or really show up until late in the game. Many didn’t make it back until the start of the 4th quarter. At critical moments late in the game you’d see more fans sitting and looking on their phones in many sections than standing and cheering.

- The offense woes and questionable decisions on the 4th downs in the 3rd quarter weigh the most on the outcome. Yeah Simis was our 3rd string QB, and apparently the O-line got jumbled up again and didn’t perform regardless the mix. However with all of that the offense handed Weber a TD with a pick 6 and then handed Weber the win with a sack/fumble in OT.

- There seemed to be confusion all over the field. Some plays where D-line players were standing up and certainly appeared to be confused. Others where WRs or O-linemen looked very confused out there.

Losing sucks. Losing to Weber really sucks. And some Griz fans can really suck when the team loses too.

There was some incredible moments and individual efforts today. Ben Roberts gets better every game, he had his best game as a Griz and I can’t help but wonder if his stock with keep rising. KVA had 17 tackles, I’ll have to check updated stats but he’s got to be near the lead for tackles in the conference. Holmes kept his sack streak going with another one today. Henderson’s sideline catch was incredible. Jamaal Jones had a great catch and an even better block the next play to help John Nguyen find the endzone.

3-3 isn’t the end of the season. Yeah the context of a loss to what was supposed to be the last “easy” game of the season sure suggests it – but don’t quit on this team! They’ve got a much needed week off to re-group. Over that stretch hopefully the QB situation can become a little more clear.

The Griz are now backed up against the wall and will need to turn this thing around for the rest of the season. We'll see how they respond! They've got good team leadership which I suspect will lead the charge to get the guys re-grouped fast.

Take a step back and a deep breath Griz Nation. We’ve just crossed the halfway point – there’s a lot of football to go.

Here’s to a restful week off, some improved health from the team, and hopefully a better game in two weeks!

Good post. I guess I would add, the conference is much more competitive than it used to be. Teams we used to consider easy wins (today's opponent for example) are tougher, more talented, and better coached teams than they were in the past. People on this board seem to consistently neglect the fact that there's another team out there. Not an excuse. In fact, I would have to say, we will not beat very many teams in this conference with an offense that can't score more than 20ish points.

What? I thought coach stitt was going to be the second coming of Jesus Christ, and NOBODY in the conference was going to keep up with this "high" octane offense....(in reference to literally any thread on e-griz before the NDSU game).

Are you confusing me with someone else? I'm glad they hired Coach Stitt and I support coach Stitt, but don't recall ever saying anything like this. :?:
