Offensively, I agree. But we'd better find some effing defensive backs who are ready to drop into the starting lineup ASAP or our D next year is gonna struggle...

+1 need to pick up a couple drop downs or juco transfers and sign a couple from high school to shore up that secondary. That’s the glaring weakness in this football team. Depth in the secondary is non existentAZGrizFan said:ordigger said:The future is very bright. 2019 I predict we are in the final four.

With the great depth we have at that position of guys who are FR and Sophs, it makes sense to move a couple of other younger receivers to the defensive side.

I am fairly confident that between Cowans, Nash & Egbo we will be ok at DB next year along with Markell. They will be in their 3rd year in the system. I trust those guys way more than a JC signing. Of course, I would never say we don't need more CB recruits or a stud drop down.

So we punished them for the bad luck of injuries by beating them like a gong. And the 2nd stringer could still hand off to their two great running backs and look how that went. These are the same guys who were saying "wait until we have to play Weber on the road" and are now moonwalking like Michael at the Motown 50, saying the Wildcats, are not that good...but wait until we have to play NAU.
I'm not worried about who we play. What I am looking for is two things.
-- are we improving each week?
-- what is the emotional level of this team?
Not only have we improved a great deal, at a number of positions (if not all) versus last year, I think we can all see the improvement week to week. Not only the players, but even the much maligned coaches in how they approach the game each week, and each quarter. We are seeing some adjustments that actually work. If we keep improving each week, I see us easily running the table, and even winning at least one, maybe two in the playoffs. I predicted, and was ridiculed, for projected this team to go at least 6-2 in conference, and 8-3 overall - with our worse being 7-4.
I think this team has truly bought into the team spirit thing this year. We are seeing inspired play, and even with adversity we manage to bounce back from it. As that develops this team is going to keep getting the swagger on, focusing more each week and being confident no matter the obstacle. They have overcome a blowout at Washington, Reese Phillips injury, the EWU 2nd half comeback and being behind on the road at ISU to win. They have even started turning the naysayers on eGriz slightly but for some even a National Championship will not sway their negativity.
The future is very bright. 2019 I predict we are in the final four.
PlayerRep said:Jensen is up fairly high in FCS passing yardage, and it's total yards, not per game. He'd be up much higher if it were on a per game basis. On the other hand, the Griz were damn fortunate that the D was up to the task in stopping UND after Jensen's 3 first quarter turnovers, and also lucky that UND wasn't very good. Three first quarter turnovers would cause a loss if the team had been playing top half conference teams (unless the D would have also been a shut down D against those games too).

At 1650+ He moved past Von Troxel for 22nd place in all time passing yardage for the Griz already!
Next up is
Tim Kerr 1758 yards - he should pass him next weekend.
Another 400 yards in that Weber game....
Ray Brum 2068
Scott Werbelow 2099
By end of year, he should be in 14th place already passing Josh Swogger & Justin Roper......with 3 left!

It's going to be hard to increase his passing yardage with a bye.

Who said anything about a bye? I said NEXT weekend, not THIS weekend.

But this weekend is the next weekend.
Semantics! I luv it. A common battle ... and source of confusion. To keep myself grounded (because my wife and I go back and forth), I have to tell myself that "this" really means "this coming" weekend, not the "next" on after. :lol:ordigger said:Maybe in your world, not mine.
