Good point, that was nice to see, a long drive!

Also I'd wonder how much playing on a grass surface hurt the quickness of our offense early.

I'd say a great deal. Frankly, it seemed as if the entire game was played in slow motion.

:agree:

Especially when Griz special teams were chasing down Gunn on the kickoff return!

I expect the griz to get better every game as they usually do. As such I assume it will be just as challenging to win in washington/grizzly stadium as ever. However, to say your team played bad in the first half because it was a grass field is a lame excuse.

i am concerned big time for this team,,,,first we were playing a bad team, second we have a lack of leadership from coaches and players as we came out and played FLAT in the entire first half,,,no ther way to say it...we looked bad....all the issues have been mentioned in this thread are indeed worriesome to me and are legitimate issues,, from the coin toss to burning red shirts and all the rest...we were lucky to be playing a doormat this weekend..imo....

The DEFENSE was not flat. Now the offense? That's a different story...

None of us was using the grass field as an excuse, just seemed the play was slower than say watching the Griz against EWU, App St, Liberty, and SD. Don't players in general seem a little slower on grass than turf?

I think every game from here on out is going to be an adventure. I'd like to think we can win out, but I have some real doubts after today. Watching the Davis-Cats game though, the Cats definitely do look beatable -- whether or not that will be the case on Nov. 17 remains to be seen. Go Griz!

If they are beatable, how come nobody beats them????

I believe it'll happen. They sort of seem to keep lucking out. That catches up with every team (the Griz included). Maybe they are THAT good; I don't think so but, if so, I'm wrong. Won't be the first time.

First, there is NO WAY any of the Griz players who made the trip weren't playing HARD...HUGE difference between being flat and not trying your hardest. Were the Griz flat? absolutely, were they not playing hard? F--K NO. And there is no way any Griz players has "GIVEN UP" on the season, no matter how many fans do. I wish people would finally be able to get it through their head, that when it comes to negativity, MOST players don't give a damn what the fans think, and that goes from the NFL down to NAIA football, and probably, high school as well. I'm sorry if that hurts some of you "big-time spenders and boosters" but the majority of players really don't care what the fans think of the secondary, or the fumbles, or the coaching staff or the record or that they were flat and won ugly. They just don't and the ones that do are worrying about the wrong things then. And NO, because they don't care what I think does not mean they want to lose or want to play badly, they want to win wayyyyy more than we/I want them to.

Secondly, Canada re-injured his hammy on that long screen pass. He didn't play again according to box score. I still didn't like playing Counts even after that, but it's done now and his red-shirt can't be taken back so what's the point in worrying about it anymore. Oiland looked to be walking fine after the game, not sure what his injury was but it at least didn't appear to be anything he was favoring with his legs after the game.

Good point. They have great player leadership and a good coaching staff, and most importantly - they find ways to win, they don't play not to lose

- On the heels of seeing Kirsch run so well I'm even more perplexed why they burnt Counts redshirt. They'd better use him a lot for the last 5 games of the season.
Disagree; the 25-30 pounds Counts has on Kirsh makes a big difference. Kirsh looks like he runs like a big back but he's really just a bigger/slower version of Canada; he's not a fit for when we really do need a big back. Kind of a tweener. He packs a wallop but needs a head of steam. You don't have that luxury in a blitz pick up or short yardage situation. It was the right decision to get Counts some snaps. We have no depth for a BIG back this year even tho half our playbook features one. And with even less depth next year, we're going to need him to hit the ground running. Really the decision was a no-brainer with Canada's injury; no way can we just rely on Nygen and Kirsh going forward. Maybe the smartest decision Delaney has made.
