Possible night game against Liberty?

He does have a point. The App State and UNI games were arguably the two greatest atmospheres in Wa-Griz history. We should of been planning (and maybe we did) to utilize the lights for a regular season game or two this year the moment the plan to put them up was approved. Seems like athletics missed the boat on that one.

Agree...

Lets hope next year's ASU game is a night game. :thumb:

One if the concerns is for the large number of out of town season ticket holders who may not be able to attend night games, especially if they move them to Thursday and Friday nights as has been talked about. The business community does not want to lose the revenue they gain from out of town fans if they cannot make those games. The stands will still be full and the locals will love it

The subject of the post was NIGHT GAME. :hijack:

Still a moron. The primary reason for installing lights was not actually for games, if it were they would have all the games at night. The reason was for flexibility in scheduling activities, more for practice time, and if Root Sports wanted a later kickoff.

Not so. The lights in bigger SEC and PAC-12 stadiums are used for relatively few home games. You can expect even Notre Dame and Michigan to schedule no more than one or two under their new lights in a season. It's increasingly all about being able to accommodate God TV... or September/October heat

To be honest, I would prefer that the Cats and Griz alternated late games so that I could watch both of them play. This argument is out of hand over stupid crap. I don't think anyone is saying the only reason they put lights in is for practice and I also don't think people are saying they only put them in for games. They just seem awful expensive for not using them as much as possible.

all home games listed as a 1:30 pm start with the continued TBA for Liberty U. This is still the case on most schedules either online. Probably an update to start time not added.
as one poster noted, Liberty does list a 3:30 ET start.

The Griz-Cat game does start later and lights will definitely be needed especially if the typical dark, late Nov days are the case.

Other thing to consider is that UM has no control over the start time for its home conference games that were picked up by Roots because of the TV deal. UM can ask for certain time slots, but is at the mercy of how Roots wants to schedule its TV slots available to Big Sky teams.

Once Roots announced its TV schedule, that then allowed UM to negotiate with other TV partners to fill the void, as well as try to figure out if they could make a night game work with the visiting teams. South Dakota, Liberty and Southern Utah probably assumed an afternoon game and planned according to that, and then it was up to them to decide if they wanted to adjust their travel plans.

Liberty and South Dakota will fly commercially or charter, and if it is a commercial flight, they are locked in and hard to adjust their travel plans. Can't blame Southern Utah for saying no thanks to getting on a bus after a night game and getting back sometime Sunday afternoon in Cedar City, especially in the middle of conference games. (although perhaps they would fly...although probably would have to bus to SLC or Las Vegas and then fly out due to the size of the travel party. Unless that airport can handle a larger plane for that large of a travel party.)

I am sure UM would have liked to have a night game, but it is not as simple as saying "let's have a night game!"

St. George, Utah has a municipal airport that provides daily service to SLC and LAX. Or it's a 2-hour bus ride to Vegas. I can not IMAGINE they'd ride a bus all the way to Missoula (828 miles)

Neither can I, but with budgets, you never know. Idaho State bussed down to play UNLV once in a non-conference game. Left on a Thursday, stayed at St. George, then got to Las Vegas on Friday. However, bussed the entire way back after the game on Saturday.
