Meg Murphy was previously employed from 2001-2005 as an adjunct instructor at Montana Tech of the University of Montana teaching microcomputer classes including MS Office software. From 1989-1995, she was a high school teacher at Butte Central Catholic High School. Between Montana Tech and Butte Central High School, Meg has coached women's basketball for 25 years. For the 2010 - 2011 season, she lead her Butte Central Lady Maroon basket ball team to win the State Class A Championship title, their first state title since 1982 when Meg played on the high school team. With the win coach Murphy now has a title for the Maroons as a player and as a coach. Meg has thrice earned the esteemed "Coach of the Year" award for the 2010 - 2011, 2011 - 2012, and 2012 - 2013 seasons.

I can't say enough about Hamilton Guard Taylor Galigoski (Lady Griz B-Ball and Softball commit). This girl has got some serious skills/talent on the court. She is very strong with the ball (while dribbling), and she sees the court extremely well, and attacks the hoop. She's fluid and graceful in transition and half-court (has a mean cross-over dribble and jump cuts to the hoop, avoiding 3 defenders near and in the paint). She's a natural scorer, she scores in all ways She'll be an amazing player for Montana.

Her fellow Guard Jaylee Albert is really good as well. These two are as good as any in the state, at any level.

This Hamilton team was good two years ago, when those two were just Sophomores, so it's not surprise they are playing for the title as Seniors.

Last week I watched the Class B Divisionals in Kalispell. I was very disappointed in the quality of play as a whole for Boys Class B basketball. It is a shame the skill level and fundamentals have fallen so much at this level. I hope the play is not that bad all over the state in Class B.

Another good girls B-Ball player in Montana is (unbeaten) Manhattan's Brooke Jones. She is the daughter of the coach. A Bozeman tv news sports director named her the best girl in the state. I would definitly say Goligoski. But Jones is really good, she's playing in the Class B Divisionals now in Billings. She had 23 pts and 16 rebounds in her game 1 win, Manhattan 77 vs St Labre 40.

Take a look at this high school ("6'3") Freshman Center. When she matures...

I forgot to mention that this student-athlete, Kailee Oliverson, travels 60 miles everyday from her home in Cardwell, to play for Twin Bridges. 8-)

does anyone know anything about the girls bb team over in Fairfield? They finally lost a game, their streak was something ridiculous, like 122 in a row?

Fairfield’s loss (in the regular season to Choteau) marked the end of the nation’s longest prep basketball win streak (120). It remains tied for the sixth longest girls’ hoops streak of all time and is far and away the longest in any high school sport in Montana history.

In the Northern B Divisional Tournament:

Fairfield beat Glasgow 48-24, then lost to Malta 53-30,

Fairfield then in the loser bracket, Fairfield beat Conrad 51-37, then beat Wolf Point 39-26.

Fairfield then challenged the loser of the Divisional Championship game, which was Choteau, but Fairfield lost to Choteau 37-32. Malta (Div Champ) and Choteau advanced to State.

Fairfield's season is done, they do not advance to State. For the first time in 7 years, Fairfield’s girls’ basketball team will not play in the Class B state championship game.

Fairfield girl's program reminds me of a program I got to follow from 1996 to 1999 while I worked at Gateway Computers. The South Sioux City (Nebraska side of Sioux City) Girls were among the best programs in the nation back then. Since then they are still among the best in Nebraska. These girls were fun to watch. http://www.ssccardinals.org/schools/high-school/activities/sports/girls-basketball/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Go Maroons.

I think the Lady Broncs might get the win. Go Go is way 2 much although Maroon girls are hot right now. Will be a great game!

She looks pretty coordinated for a 6-3 freshman. What would that be, maybe the equivalent of about a 6-8 boy?

Butte Central Maroons 46 - Hamilton Broncs 58.

Congratulations to HHS! Albert (Tourney MVP), Hayes, and Goligoski (Lady Griz) can play.

Going into the game, my head said the senior class led Broncs (8 of them), that were playing at home in front of 4,000 fans and having the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, would win the championship.

But my heart was pulling for the young Maroons. They had no seniors (in fact there best players are sophomores and a freshman), but they were the last team to beat Hamilton, so there was that... :D

Warp ?
Huse?
Howard?

I seen where Havre's Warp (the talented varsity QB also) scored 40 some points in a divisional game recently...

Manhattan Christian's Conner VanDyken (the schools leading scorer) is really good. They'll probably win state.

Columbia Falls has a good team again this year...

VanDyken is an amazing shooter. I was down at Western C Divisionals last weekend and boy can he shoot. I wouldn't doubt for a minute that Manhattan Christian wins the State title but I'm pulling for the scrappy Arlee squad. Arlee didn't play their best game in the championship in Butte but I'm hoping for a Manhattan Christian vs Arlee rematch in the final. :thumb:

From Billings Gazette:

Taylor Goligoski of Hamilton was named the Gatorade Montana Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second time.

Goligoski averaged 23.1 points per game to go with 5.5 rebounds this past season as she led Hamilton to their first state title in 31 years.

Goligoski, who also won the award as a sophomore, joins Jill Barta, Peyton Ferris, Danielle Muri, Lexie Nelson, Joslyn Tinkle and Kirsten Tillman as the state's most recent winners.
