No kidding.

In Missoula, some of us appreciate both sexes in basketball. Although Sac. State deserves accolades for the road victory, there's a better chance for success for the home team in Missoula than in the Golden State (unless you're talking Warrior basketball). Just saying

That's because there is nothing else to do in Missoula but freeze!

Hint: No need to worry about playing the tournament in the Rec Center at Sac State.

Oh well, you got that part right at least.

Wait, do multiple people post as AWF too?! I thought only AG1 had a party of five? :P :P :P :P :P

Says the guy from Sacramende. Say hey to Jax and the gang for me. SAMCRO.

For the sake of the conference and its ability to recruit good athletes, I am almost convinced that if Sacto wins the conference and holds the tournament in its rec hall, it would be better for everyone if ESPN chose not to show it and opted for coverage of the play in game of the NCAA featuring the BSC champ. This really is a low point in Big Sky Conference history. Montana's moment will be next year and the year after that.

Agreed. Will ESPN actually show a game in the rec hall? I'm trying to figure out how it will even work.

And you thank God every night that your team, due to the 'wonderful' unbalanced schedule in the BSC, never had to come to come to Missoula this season.

One day that could benefit the GRIZ. Overall, the more historical better BSC programs are playing each other 2x's a year every year. At the size of the conference now, if we play everyone 2 x's it reduces scheduling better of out of conference opponents. We need better ooc games due to the conference being terrible. The best solution might be to find 7 to 9 other western schools to form another conference, even it means a few basketball only schools.

That is probably the best and easiet solution. Cal Poly and UC Davis are good examples. The Big Sky loses any credibility with gyms like Sacto and fields like SUU...Seems we are becoming a bottom feeder for places with little tradition and even less desire to do anything but put a team out, for whatever reason. I think Sacto winning the conference might be a good thing in the over all scheme of things. It might just get real fans and alumni motivated to do something about the failure of the Big Sky Conf. lately.

What schools would be good fits?
Montana, Montana State (if the state could afford 2 schools), Idaho, NDSU, UND, South Dakota State, South Dakota, New Mexico State, EWU (minus a few certain fans), Weber State (hopefully they could improve in football). Add in Seattle and U of Denver for Basketball only.

Possible considerations, Poly and Davis. I would like to see a the conference still have a presence in CA. I'd be happy with any combination of the 14 listed schools.

Of course the same can be said for your women. They avoided the Nest this year.
Last year I enjoyed watching the Griz Sows run to exhaustion in the Nest!

Why blame us for the scheduling? Blame the brain dead BSC for admitting Idaho (without their football team) and screwing up the home and home schedule. The BSC used to be all sports or nothing, apparently that's changed. If that's the case we want the same deal Poly and UC Dungpile have. Football BSC everything else Big West with our other Cal State U and U of Calif. campuses. It certainly would help our attendance to play teams we actually have a connection with and fans care about.

I think you would get a lot of Montana support for that. A great idea, actually. Start a petition and I would sign it.

And I'm sure you were jumping at the chance to go to Cedar City (you beat SUU by 1 at home) and Flagstaff (I'm sure you wanted to suck wind at 7000 ft). THE SCHEDULE IS WHAT IT IS......THERE IS NOTHING FAIR ABOUT IT BUT WE DIDN'T MAKE IT.....I actually wanted another easy win against ISU and Weber and MSU.....that would have really sucked for you

WTF?!?! Adding Idaho was the only intelligent thing the bsc has done in the last 25 years. That evened up the numbers for BB and gave everyone a travel partner. Oh, and Idaho happens to have DI level facilities.

Now, far be it from me to give the bsc much credit. Because while adding Idaho was the right call (I won't call it intelligent because my 2nd grade nephew could have made it), where they screwed the pooch was not going to divisions.

I think the only possible way for a film crew to successfully film a game here would be to use the new drone filming technology (DFT) that is being pioneered at the University of Idaho. One camera with a wide angle lens ought to do it.

Divisions would have worked if it provided a home and home schedule at least for all the team in the division. Which was the complaint of the original poster. I'm not so much against having Idaho in the BSC, my point was that by adding them and keeping everything
else the same we lost the old home and home schedule. Splitting into a east and west division would also help with travel for all sports. It could also be done in football if Idaho stops pretending that they have a FBS football program and rejoins the BSC.

Idaho FB is not coming back. There's far, far too much money to made at the FBS level.

And adding Idaho isn't what caused the scheduling problem. Last year the schedule was a complete cluster without Idaho. Making the conference membership 1,241 with the entrance requirement evidently being "can you scrounge up 10 or 11 singlets for your guys to play in?" is what caused the problem. Last year, teams played far too few nonconference games, there were conference games every day of the week, and the GRIZ/cat games were on Mondays.

Hmmm, I'm just now noticing a trend: every time the bsc is mentioned, the words "complete cluster f___" immediately follow.
