Thanks for the rundown on conference winners, doublenicks. Much appreciated. Jon over at bigskybball.com just posted a pretty good look at the scenarios behind each of the top four team's chances of hosting.

Now....for those debating conference realignment...I try not to do this often but I'm going to take your bait.

I don't debate the collegiate ratings or methodology of The Business Journal. I remember sitting in class/in the dorms in Flagstaff and wondering how in the hell the knuckle-dragger next to me got into college. NAU isn't and won't ever be Ivy League material.

I will close with two questions:

1) Do you truly believe that the Mountain West Conference fanbase will respond any differently to the U of Montana joining their esteemed club?

2) Will the U of Montana be the MWC's "directional" school then?

As Citay said, the answers are No and No. A couple things, Lower Echelon was the Business Journal classification, not mine. And as soon as MT joins the Mtn West I guarantee we will be bitching we want San Jose St and Fresno State out, or we need to move to the Pac 16. It's just kinda who we are. On the other hand it helps to remember the Big Sky was UM's final stop on de-emphasizing sports gut kick. Another hit would have been to drop sports altogether, as the Missoulian proposed in the late '70's. So you have to excuse us a little if some of us want our State's Flagship school to be on the same level as, say Wyoming's Flagship school, or even where the Boise Jr. college is at. Even if that level was the first stop on our de-emphasizing gut kick.

Holy hell, you are knocking it out of the park today. It's like you have a recording device in my house when I'm ranting about the BSC to the wall. Yeah, I do it. Don't judge. Fuck you. I'm sorry.

It is possible your wall is in my mind. As a concession I am willing to sign certain posts "as heard through CDA's wall.

I think we'll be able to work something out.

I'm laughing out loud, guys. And not in the 13 year old girl lol way, either.

This slayed me:

As far as being in the driver's seat based off of tie-breakers, no team can just win out and host without other circumstances helping. Obviously, there are plenty of scenarios that could play out but here are the ones where each team controls their own destiny the most.

EWU: win out and need UM>NAU (possible tie-breaker over Sac State because of H2H split and 2-0 record vs. UM compared to Sac's 1-0 vs. UM...haha ironic that a 1-0 record could come back to actually hurt Sac...thanks BSC)

Sac State: win out and need to have UM beat EWU (possible tie-breaker over UM because of H2H)
or win out and need NAU>UM (possible tie-breaker over EWU because of H2H split and 2-0 record vs. NAU compared to EWU's 0-1 vs. NAU)

UM: win out and need Sac State to lose at least once more (no tie-breakers needed)

NAU: win out and need EWU and UM to lose at least once more each AND need EWU>UM (possible tie-breaker over Sac State because of H2H split and 1-0 record vs. EWU compared to Sac's 1-1 vs. EWU)

NAU might not be in as bad of a position as thought since it's guaranteed that either EWU or UM will have another loss this weekend.

With UM's loss to Idaho, Sac State moves into the driver's seat and NAU's chances go from slim-to-none to an actual possibility if Griz knock off EWU Saturday. If EWU wins the Griz matchup Saturday, it ironically still helps Sac State because it most likely makes NAU>UM. That being said, I think Sac is a bit overrated and will stumble down the stretch but at least for now, they control their own destiny.

:o For Griz fans, UM still has a chance of hosting if they beat EWU & MSU and Sac State drops 2 out of @PSU, @SUU, @NAU (all tough road games, IMO).

UM would already own the H2H against NAU even if they won out and UM would only need NAU>Sac State (which would be very likely in this situation) to own the tiebreaker over EWU.

...like egriz's most astute bb poster stated...
...and don't question the loyalty to the bone...
...this team/coach is not ready for primetime...
...got no interest in a play in game for a 16 seed...

... ...

Go NAU & Go PSU!!!

Two huge games tonight. Hopefully, NAU can keep momentum going into next weeks' Sac State game and UM needs NAU to end up higher in the standings than Sac State (UM owns H2H tiebreaker so not a problem if NAU wins out).

PSU favored by 9 tonight (interestingly, it thinks Sac State will drop all 3 of their final games) by realtimerpi.com, but then again the same site favored EWU by 11 today.

Huge blow to UM. With NAU getting beat by UNC, UM now needs Sac State to lose at least two AND EWU to drop a game next week against ISU or WSU. Or have Sac State lose out and NAU win out...

Late 2nd half folds against Sac State and Idaho have really hurt as the season has played out. Hell even beating Sac State would put us in their position, and them in ours. Regardless of how next week plays out, I hope every returning GRIZ next year will remember how badly those games cost the team. The GRIZ were in position to put away Sac State and just did not.

Counting on Sac State to lose both games to NAU and SUU next week is a very unlikely outcome. I do believe EWU loses 1 game next weekend

The good news, the GRIZ cannot finish worse than 3rd, which would mean getting the #1 seed until the conference championship.

OOOh, I get it......so sorry!!
Don't be. 8-)

You haven't won shit yet. I still say you drop both games next week. You caught a break today because PSU -- a team that looked considerably more talented than sac -- couldn't get out of their own way.

But Even if you do host in your lunchroom turned basketball venue, you're not even one of the top 6 teams in the Conf right now. I seriously doubt you see the semis.

Gonna be great to see the GRIZ dancing in your yoga studio/court on national TV though.

It's funny how every week the other team can't get out of it's own way against us....13 times this season they have found the weak sister playing against them......pack your bags......THERE ARE NO MORE GAMES IN MISSOULA THIS SEASON......

In Missoula, some of us appreciate both sexes in basketball. Although Sac. State deserves accolades for the road victory, there's a better chance for success for the home team in Missoula than in the Golden State (unless you're talking Warrior basketball). Just saying
