DIrectv since 2012. Dish from 2001-2012. Mostly so we can DVR stuff. But thinking of abandoning cable/satellite and going exclusively streaming services.
DirecTV for a long, long time. The local infrastructure isn't quite up to the good streaming yet (don't ask). Have been well-served by DirecTV customer support when there are problems ... so that helps.

Directv hasn’t been bad, but these damn contract disputes that them and Dish have periodically with the local networks really seem to come at inopportune times (first half of college football season). Being in Lolo we have Spectrum or Century Link to choose from for internet. Century Link (which we have) doesn’t offer very fast internet here yet and I’ve heard spectrum customers around here complain about losing service for hours at a time and random price hikes, even though they offer much faster speeds.
So for now, I’ll stick it out with DTV and add streaming as Internet speed and stability improve.

Sick of the contract crap. Local content providers are pretty desperate trying to compete with so much "free" content on the web. Don't know the answer, but there's likely to be more pain before it gets better.

CenturyLink offers good streaming speeds here, but they tie it up in some strange packages … and we don’t trust them worth a damn. And they have about the worst customer support we’ve ever encountered (here, anyway). We’ve kept our land line phone through them (for now), just because we’d have to change so many outside records.

We’ve had the same issue with CL customer service. Just horrible. In Lolo, we can only get 20 mbps from them, which is barely acceptable to stream anything. Spectrum offers 100 mbps I guess but seem to be a lot more expensive and have outage issues. We’ve also kept the land line with century link, my wife wants it still for some reason.

Is it just me or is the second most popular thread after maligning state ag about TV?

lol. Probably true. Just passed up “loud and cold” and “beer in the stadium” threads for 2nd place. #firstworldproblems as people say.

ROOT Sports now has an app in the play store and apple store. Limited number of cable companies to log in with. No charter spectrum. But Direct TV is on the list.

So I have cable at my parents house in Butte, but in Missoula, I have sling. I love sling. From a sports standpoint it has just about everything including the pac 12 network. The only thing it doesn’t have is root and local channels, but I have an antenna to get the locals. And if the Griz have a road game on root, like they did for UC Davis, then I just go home and watch it at my parents house.

Streaming AT&T Now.

I get to watch the games via Audience channel that picks up Root. Can watch and record TV on my phone. Bumped my package up to $70 a month with all the sports channels I have. Also get the local channels as well.

Watch other games on Pluto. I’ll never go back to regular cable.
You have way faster internet than I do. Welcome to much of Montana.

AT&T Watch TV right now until the season is over, but I pray there is a better option next year, as that service is absolutely atrocious. I think the B Team runs it, or interns.

Off season, I think I'll try Philo TV because I like Real PD on A&E, especially watching all the drag out fights all over the country, then when they switch to Missoula, Horses on the loose!!!

Question for the streamers out there, when u stream is it in Super High Definition?

Most people have Super Black Screen on Pluto.

If you have a 4K TV or Projector, and the streaming service is 4K, then you're good. I don't know of any that broadcast in 4K though. My service, AT&T Watch, is on my HD computer screen, which is okay, but that's all I know. My TV and my Projector are also just the basic HD.

As far as Montana, there is no 4K for local stations like the game yesterday on ABC.

As far as 4K TV's, that was a giant gimmick when they came out because nothing was being broadcast in 4K, which resulted in the prices plunging. They will probably have 8K or whatever before they have routine broadcasting in 4K.

This info is all from talking to people in the know so to speak, but it can all change real quick... Then you have OLED vs. QLED, which I don't care about because I have a 200" screen from my projector that costs less than a 55" smart TV.

So, since I didn't answer a damn thing you asked, I will now...

No.
