Well let’s see, Fresno baseball won the natty in 2008, SDSU played for the men’s hoops natty 3 years ago…pretty sure those are the other two major men’s sports after football.

But let’s keep holding Sac State down 🙄

Good riddance is right…to Montucky! Enjoy those epic powerhouses of Southern Utah, Northern Colorado and NAU in the grand scheme of things!
We aren't talking baseball and basketball. You're still going to suck in those in the little west because you've never been anything there before.
Nobody is holding suck state down but woody with his sorry little stinger up.

Do you think you're offending me by calling my home state Montucky? The only thing offensive about it is that when you say it, you're using it like a slur, but that's how stupid you all are.

Sell the sour grapes and sweet lemons on your own network. Oh, but you just need to console yourselves into thinking the money was worth the step down into the soon to be former MAC.

Montana football is a powerhouse in the Big Sky Conference. Congratulations! You’ve mastered a subdivision where half the league is fighting over bus budgets.

SAC is sitting in a top-20 media market in the most talent-rich state in America, Dr. Wood is looking at the math and realizing: “Oh. We can actually scale this.” Montana fans hear “FBS” and think it’s about pride. It’s about money. It’s about recruiting footprint. It’s about media value. It’s about institutional ceiling.

Sacramento has California recruiting within driving distance. Corporate sponsors who don’t sell tractor parts. An airport that connects to civilization. A growth trajectory tied to a major metropolitan economy.

Montana has snow games and nostalgia edits. A stadium that looks amazing on Instagram in October. A statewide population smaller than most California counties. Fans who think “we travel well” replaces structural advantages. And the funniest part? Montana fans genuinely believe passion is currency. That yelling loudly in Missoula somehow offsets geography and NIL funding pools.

Sacramento State is moving because the ceiling is higher than FCS allows. Montana hesitates because deep down, Griz fans know that once you leave the comfort of structural advantages like altitude, isolation, and tradition, you’re just another program trying to scrape to 6–6.

Ambition terrifies people who are comfortable. Sac State sees growth. Montana fans see risk. And nothing exposes insecurity faster than a fanbase insisting they could move up… but just don’t want to.

ChatGPT is on SAC's side... :)
You may be right, you may be wrong but if Montana or Montana State have to look like Sacramento to be "civilized", then screw that! I'd rather live in paradise and watch DII football and keep Montana the same.

Why didn’t that tv marker and ambition find more success at the JV level?

I think you missed the point. The hope is that the support will come if they are seen as equal to Fresno State, Stanford and Cal. Not the JV squads that are in the BSC. SSU has the resources to build the brand over time.

You're the one that missed the point. Joining the MAC is not moving up and you can't ever be seen as equal to Fresno State and certainly never USC of Stanford.
:ROFLMAO: 😆🤣
Two wins in four FCS playoff appearances, and you are on a level with USC.

😆🤣 😆🤣

Dream big, but the nightmare is coming!

Just a guess, your eyes must be brown because you are truly full of shit!

They're gonna need to win and win fast in order for that to happen.

Without benefit of seeing their schedule yet, I think 4-8 is pushing it. They better have UMass on the schedule and at home.
I think if they had had this lined up last year and Marion had stuck around and kept the recruits he brought in, another year in that system could've been exactly what they needed.

No guarantee they'll suck, but I don't think they'll be as good as they were last year, and they didn't even make the FCS playoffs.

writing prompts to a LLM to own the JV message board in the conference you are leaving says a lot about where all the dorks are taking us, whether anyone wants it or not

Not sure if that's true. Fresno State and San Jose State haven't been that successful on the field and they both have way bigger budgets than anything in the BSC. SSU has about four times the enrollment as Montana. Also the California university system has way deeper pockets and a willingness to invest. It may be a while until they find their way but in the coming years they'll be playing in Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Texas at the FBS level and the cats and griz will still be in the BSC watching teams come and go.

So why hasn't Sac been in FBS until now?

Why did it take a shitty deal and a ton of smoke and mirrors to make this move happen?

Tons of FBS teams lose money hand over fist playing in front of nobody without also giving up all their revenue for the privilege, and my hunch is that unless Sac wins right away and sustains that success, they're just going to be another UMASS, but without the history of basketball success.

They're taking a huge gamble here, and I honestly hope it works out for them, but it's wild that people are acting like it's anything short of a wing and a prayer just because they want Montana to move up. I think they have about an equal chance of shuttering their football program in a few years as they do having any real success at the FBS level.

I think you missed the point where 20 million people were supposedly the savior of this decision per the hornet fan. And somehow the 6th largest city in the state was supposed to be the priority of those taxpayers. 😆

Also, just because we’ve all heard about it or seen the movie, doesn’t mean that just because you build it people will come. Luke woods is no James Earl Jones.

There’s a reason that WaGriz was a slow deliberate process to build in the 80’s and then improve in phases over time and not just stuff thrown at the wall to see what sticks in some hasty decision. Missoula has seen the dividends of this for 40 years now. Sac won’t be able to see above the hole they dug in who knows how long.

I guess we'll see what happens but SSU is now at the same level as FSU and SJSU and even Cal and Stanford. They will not be playing in the FBS bowl series championship but they will have their up and down years at that level. Griz fans will still be wearing their Div I AA NC hats from 2001 and telling stories about how they used to beat SSU and BSU and welcoming the next Div II project into the BSC.

Alot of what i'm hearing and that includes from the MWC commissioner is that the current FBS playoff system is likely to continue the way it is..

Talk of the p4 and G6 splitting apart and forming differant leagues seems to be losing alot of steam, that's why some current FCS teams realize the sooner you get in the FBS it enhances their reputation in the eyes of the big players in the FBS..

Basically you snooze you lose.

Do you think I don’t want Montana to move up, or something? I don’t get the weird insults.

But if we had made the same shitty deal Sac did to join an east coast conference, you wouldn’t see me pretending it’s somehow good for us. I’d be shitting on it even more than I am Sac’s deal.

An awe inspiring 154-208-1 record in the FCS with a post season record of 2-4. That is a formula for FBS success for sure. You'll be lucky if they see the success level of UTSA, which is nothing to be proud of, but they are in a much more football rich environment in the 7th largest city in the US (not the 7th largest in CA). But hey, they take the beatings from UT that you want from Washington and Oregon, so why shouldn't you be allowed to flounder and waste money in your broke ass state. Everything's a handout when you believe it's all free!

Not sure what you're implying as far as the reference to everything is free? If you mean California they do currently has a $23 billion in cash reserves including $4.1 billion in public school reserve. They seem to be managing things pretty well. Maybe they will win a lot of games or maybe they won't but the petty griz crowd dunking on them now will still be the JV squad beating their chest about how good they were in IAA in the 90,s.

All this reference to the JV just shows you ate woody's shit and keep going back for more of the clown's cool aid. But you still feel the need to keep coming back here!
best of luck with the landing, stingers up girls!
