Ita a bigger picture play, FBS label by most teams almost always blows away FCS label by most FCS schools..

Its either mover forward or forever get left behind..

Like it or not Sacramento Stare proved they have big money boostesr to make a move they think is good for them..

Until U of Montana proves the can be serious about raising the money to move up, which I doubt they can, they are stuck in the FCS for the foreseeable future. Which gives teams moving up right now a big advantage, over schools and fanbases with their heads stuck in the sand..

MSU is also stuck with U of Montana in the FCS for the foreseeable future. Unless the BOR changes their tone and one of the 2 raises the funds to move up completely through private donations they are going to be in the same division and conference. Players already do turn down the FBS to come to Montana and I assume it is the same with MSU.

I’m dying of a man cold so maybe I’m reading this wrong, very possible. Would the BOR have to change their tune require a MT Constitutional Amendment? Personally, I think you jerks just need to win a natty and then we all demand to move up.

As for the OG poster… Who comes to a board, brags about moving up, when the way they moved up is similar to the kid with zero athletic talent who has no business even playing sports starts because mommy and daddy paid the coaches. Sac State will always be a doormat and skid mark of college football
 
The Mac made out like bandits and Sac pretty much took on all the risk. 18 million from Sac State, no conference payouts, and Sac is covering travel costs for visiting Mac teams.

Sac better start winning right away otherwise donors will be rethink their pledges for what they thought would be the Pac.
 
I think this is the worst football deal of all time. Even beyond the Vikings giving away 3 years of draft choices to the Cowboys for Hershel Walker.

They paid like SMU to ACC, but SMU got full membership. The NCAA did them a favor by not allowing them to move up last year, but they just couldn't get out of their own way.

God is great, beer is good and Sac State is freakin' bat shit crazy.

Bs, if you've been paying attention at all to what is happening in the landscape of college football you'd see what most have for a while. FCS teams that take it seriously are looking to get the hell out.

The big boys in the FBS level football is clearly keeping an eye on teams at the FCS level, why do you think these teams like NDSU and Sacramento State were so driven to do whatever it took to get the hell out of the FCS?...

I know for a fact that UND is in talks with two FBS conferences right now and neither is the MAC or MWC.. figure it out.. and Illinois State is getting ready to bolt as well

Need to recheck your patriot ranking for '26. Did you take into account the new additions?
 
If you look at the NDSU move, the time was right for them while their stock is still up. They led the pack for a decade, but there are indications there that they were about to be back in the field again with one championship in the last four years and one and done in the 2025 playoffs.

They spent a long time dreaming that the Big 10 was going to give them a call and invite them over, so even a watered-down Mountain West offer is still decent consolation. Then factor in how much it makes them look even better that Sac couldn't get in, even with the money they were offering to join the club.

At this stage, I am only convinced that joining the MAC (for football only at that) does not qualify as getting out of the JV. The verdict is still out if the new look MWC, better than the MAC team for team, but hardly a lot of big-time college football there when your best team is probably UNLV, who is a captive because of Nevada.

Without seeing their schedules they end up with, I feel that NDSU gets into a bowl game as a fill-in because there are just too many games these days and they will need to put them into one. Sac State needs six D-I wins to qualify for the same thing, so they are going to have to drop a lot of the games they have scheduled, you can only use one FCS win toward the six bowl eligible wins. With 7 FCS games on the schedule, I would imagine that they are going to owe cancellation money to a bunch of schools as well. If they won 7 in their last year in the Big Sky, they will have a rough time putting together 3 or 4 wins with all the travel ahead of them in 2026.

This seems like the absolute worst deal one could literally ever make on the side of Sac St. like a bad Saturday night live skit even.

This is a deal that screams, "You bring absolutely nothing to the table, so if you really want to sit here, you have to do a ton of crazy shit for us. I guess you can tell people you're one of us but please just know that you really aren't."

No opinion on what was said, I just have to say that it's always hilarious when someone with that accent tries to make a serious point. :ROFLMAO: It's like a cartoon or something. If some official broke into TV programming and said, "A nuclear warhead is headed toward the United States." in that accent, I would laugh first. Then, I'd be concerned.
