Poll Guesses (Nov 10)

With eight ranked teams, three of them in the top-10, losing, we can expect another major stirring in the next polls. I actually did not move MSU down as far as the pollsters may: They were on the road, but a 25-point loss looks bad, even if it is to the #3 team. Also, that 7-3 record seems very conspicuous in among the 8-2 and 9-1 teams. I’m guessing the other losing teams will drop by the more typical 6 spots.

When I got near the bottom, it became a choice as to which 6-4 team to bump. I decided on Samford because they lost to a not-very-good Furman team. James Madison lost to #25 New Hampshire ... and the pollsters love UNH (and it’s the CAA, after all). I replaced them with Jacksonville State because they were the top “Others Receiving Votes” team last week.

1. NDSU (9-0)
2. Eastern Illinois (9-1)
3. EWU (8-2)
4. Sam Houston State (8-2)
5. Fordham (10-0)
6. Maine (9-1)
7. Montana (8-2)
8. McNeese State (8-2)
9. Montana State (7-3)
10. Towson (8-2)
11. Coastal Carolina (9-1)
12. Northern Arizona (7-2)
13. SE Louisiana (8-2)
14. Charleston Southern (10-1)
15. Youngstown State (8-2)
16. South Dakota State (6-4)
17. Lehigh (7-2) [21]
18. Bethune-Cookman (8-2)
19. William & Mary (7-3)
20. Chattanooga (8-2)
21. Delaware (7-3)
22 New Hampshire (5-4)
23. Wofford (5-4)
24 Jacksonville State (8-2)
25. James Madison (6-4)

NR Samford (6-4)

I think SE Louisiana is a semifinal team. They should be alot higher, I know how the polls work and obviously they won't get that much credit, but they deserve more. Should be above both Montana schools IMO.

Does anyone know what happened in the Se Lou vs McNeese game? I see they womped them pretty good but did something happen? Their schedule isn't exactly what I would call daunting but they are winning. Losses to TCU and SDSU before they started their big slide. SHSU next week should give them one more loss as well. How will that conference title be determined if that happens? McNeese beat SHSU McNeese lost to Se Lou and I predict them getting beat by SHSU next week leaving everyone in the conference with a record of 5-1 in conference and probably 6-1 at the end of the year with a 3 way tie, who gets the auto bid from there. I realize there will be at least 2 out of the conference get into the playoffs but it looks like the Southland conference is going to get interesting.

They'll have their shot at jumping up next week. If they win out I could see them justifying a top 4 seed.

SELA's wins the last two weeks have been very impressive. Not certain I'm ready to consider them a semi team, but next Sat will tell us much.

Well, the OVC obviously isn't the strongest Conf, but EIU can score a TON of points. And they do have a 20+ point win over San Diego State. Again, next week vs Jax State will help shape things.

Yeah Sam Houston will be a tough test for them. I wish the FCS was more viewable, so I could base my opinions on actually watching these teams rather than dissecting their schedules... I see that that game is on ESPN 3, maybe I'll find a way to catch this one. They probably won't end up with a top 4 seed, but I sure as hell wouldn't want Montana to be the unfortunate ones to draw them early.

They beat San Diego State (FBS team with a winning record) and gave Northern Illinois (#15 in the country before an easy win this week) all they could handle. Who knows, but they've proven about as much as any team in the FCS.
