Lots of great memories in Dahlberg over the years! Criswell's dunk is right up there.

That was one hell of a team! They flat out dominated Stanford that year here 88-69. Halftime score was 44-31. Hasquet couldn't miss that game. He was 4-4 from 3 point range with 20 points. Virgil Matthews had 23 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. It's weird thinking how when Matthews first came to the Griz he didn't start getting significant playing time until an injury opened up a spot. The guard tandem of Matthews (who could play the 1, 2, or 3) and Criswell gave the Griz an awesome backcourt the year we beat Nevada in the NCAA tournament!

I think one of the funniest memories I have from Dahlberg was when we were playing Idaho here Idaho was down by 2 or something with time running out when Orlando Lightfoot hit around a half court shot to win the game for Idaho. All of the Idaho fans sitting in our section went nuts.... problem was he took like 5 steps before he threw the ball up and the refs had called him for travelling. They got very quiet all of a sudden :P

This years team is definitely worth checking out! The ticket prices are cheap too. The Griz have had 3 straight 20+ win seasons including a 25 win season last year.

Hopefully we'll get some basketball fans back on the bandwagon soon so Dahlberg can be a huge homecourt advantage for the Griz again!
I was a HUGE Virgil fan! He was an all around great player.....i love thinking back on that team...Went to the Boston College game in SLC what an exciting first half....very disapointed when they pulled away from us...too much big east power i guess....seemed their biggs swatted nearly every layup attempt andrew had! Great experince though

Their bigs were definitely too much later in the game. Tough matchup going against Jared Dudley and Craig Smith (both ended up in the NBA). Smith was a beast inside for them. They had a 6'10" center too who was pretty damn good defensively if I remember right.

I was a big fan of Matthews too. He seemed to do everything well and could play multiple positions. In his first year here after he finally started getting more playing time, I remember the Bobcat coach made a comment about how he was a big difference maker for the Griz in the tournament. They hadn't really seen much of him in the conference season, but the Cats got to know him very well in the Big Sky Tournament game. He had 13 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds off the bench in that game.

Griz basketball is a solid product and deserves more support for sure. Playing Boise State and Idaho always got the Zoo rocking.

Wish there was something we could do as fans to get that place filled december 15th for SDSU....but word of mouth only gets you so far....people have to get off the couch....its Sat night, FBS wont be playing...no semi final game for griz football....no real reason there arent at least 5,000 people there...esp cuz that could be our first chance at seeing WILL!!!!

Ya know, maybe if they scheduled some of their games like football, Saturday mid day, not 7pm, more people would attend from out of Missoula. I'm not interested in dodging drunks and deer on the way home. :twocents:

I live in Polson and have both sets of season tickets..PGF...need a ride?

No, but thanks for the offer bG. :thumb:

They used to schedule some games for mid day on the weekends. Unfortunately the attendance for those games was downright awful most of the time :(

I'm in...+2

I will be plus 2 for the rest of the season, but for a few games I will have extras, that I will give away. I got the hookup this year, and a friend of mine gave me tickets for every game. Reciprocity, baby!

Well this particular appeal to fans said pretty clearly "if you're in the area", and it would seem to me there are a lot less drunks with basketball. :twocents: :)

I'm all for going to every game. I just can't make it or afford it every game from Belgrade. I am planning on going to the SDSU game, though, and hopefully a few more conference games aside from the Griz/Cat in Bozeman. Should be a good time!

The one thing that the basketball games are missing that football has is tailgates. If you made basketball the party that football is, I can guarantee that you would see at least 2000 more people per game that you don't get right now, for better or worse.

I've never understood why there ISN'T tailgating before BB games, especially the Saturday night games (Thursday night I sorta understand). But Saturday night games simply BEG for tailgates. When I was at UM, we had our own tailgates prior to BB games, but we had them at our dorm/house because we'd have looked pretty damn stupid being the only ones partying it in the Adams Center parking lot.

Bring the booze and the rest will surely follow! ;)

Should be making a handful of Saturday games in the coming months. Brought the wife & kids over for the bracket buster game last February and much to my surprise they loved it. Will be there for SDSU on the 15th..... +4 from Butte!

Thanks for the info..going to set my DIRECTV to DVR the game tonight. It will probably be on right when we get the kids to bed so I'll be a little behind watching it.

The only other Griz sporting event I have any notion of going to is to watch their wrestling team...so, until Title kill programs instead of creating opportunities is repealed or a jump to 1A where we have to add activities, I won't be attending. Sorry if you don't like it, but it's too far to drive and too much money for something I don't enjoy.

Watched it. There will be lots of good seats available in Dahlberg Arena, for obvious reasons.
