Please, Please, PLEASE MSU Hire Bobby Hauck!

Hauck is just fine if you want to stay the same as you are right now, perfect for us as they are mediocre. Want proof? Ok!

1986 Don Read arrives in Missoula, the team is not quite a dumpster fire but pretty bad. In 9 years he never has a losing season, and wins a national championship. During his time here he played against teams that have moved on.

Idaho: 1985-1996 were in the playoffs 9 out of 10 years.
Boise State: Were in the playoffs almost every year and were in the championship game in 1994.
Nevada Reno: Were in the playoffs almost every year.

Bobby didn't have to play these guys until he went to UNLV, how did he do against them there, not so well.
Don retires and turns the Cadillac over to Mick Dennehey who tried to hit the ditch with. Joe Glenn on the other hand knew how to drive it, but we'll get to them later.

On to Bobby, he goes to UNLV, bad team, perfect place to show how good of a coach he is right? Fired after 5 years, couldn't beat the BIg Sky teams he scheduled much less the former Big Sky members. Team is pretty much the same as he found it. This was the perfect time for Bobby to experiment to try and find ways to win when you just don't get to out recruit the other teams because someone else left you with that ability. That is my biggest problem with Hauck, he has a 'system' that relies on attacking the other teams strengths to show them how 'physical and tough' his team is as opposed to scoring more points.

Now back to other coaches, Dennehey, Glenn, the Bohls guy that went to Wyoming from NDSU, and now the new guy at UNLV that was GOD in high school football. All struggled? Why? Because its easy to win when your teams legacy allows you to get better players than the competition. Its damn hard to create that. So really the success of the grizzlies is just as much from the support around the team starting in 1986 as anything. Bob Stitt is no fool, he had piles of job offers to fix dumpster fires, he waited for the Cadillac.
