Playoffs Round 1 Discussion

Observation without comment: Yale received a few votes along the way, but never made it into the top-25 of the STATS poll. Harvard started in the poll and moved into the top-10 fairly early on.
 
So 4 of 5 MVFC teams are moving on:

SDSU
USD
Ill St
UND

YSU blew a 28 point 3rd Q lead

Also moving on are

Yale
Rhode Island
Villanova
Abilene Christian


Funny how many people were up in arms about Tennessee Tech seed dropping to 13. Well they got smoked at home by an unseeded UND team. Some conferences are just way better and more battle tested.
 
The word was Youngstown defense was bad, but giving up 5 straight td’s to Yale at home, is crazy. That”s why they play the game. Nobody expected that. Yale giving up 42 was pretty bad too. The Cats should roll next week.

The toughest matchup next week, will be SDSU and Griz. I give the Griz the edge at home. Even though Mason is back, they still have some key players out. However, they are always tough. Should be a heck of a game.

I can’t wait to see how the Mercer vs South Dakota game goes next week. Socon is another conference that always likes to cry.
 
After quick math according to ESPN, the 1st round only hosted a combined attendance of 30k….. comparable to the “weekday CUSA and MAC-tion” combined weekday crowds.

The Yale RB is good and a load. 32-209, 3TD's, long of 56. 6.5 per carry. 6', 215. 23 carries per game. Last 6 games over 100. Only 2 games under 100. Lost 2 fumbles in 2d game in season, and 2 for season. He's hard to bring down.

This years version of Sdsu is nowhere the team they where in past years, like so many over here have stated before they were and are overrated.. before and after the MSU game, they should have never been rated in the top 10, and especially now with all the current injuries.

SDSU's defense is suspect when they are spread out and teams run the ball against them. They've had this problem all year.

SDSU run defense has been solid all year key to the game will be if they get mcshane and Von Tol back for this week.SDSU is very vulnerable in the secondary given up big plays all year..
