Playoff Selecton: My Concern

OK, lets look at the 2 loss teams and who they lost to:

EWU: Toledo & Sam Houston (FBS and bubble playoff team)
UM: NAU and EWU (two playoff teams)
Maine: NorthWestern and New Hampshire (FBS and bubble playoff team)
McNeese: UNI and SELA: (one team that's in, one that's out)
Towson: Villanova & Delaware (two teams not going to the playoffs)
SELA: TCU & South Dakota St (FBS and bubble playoff team)
NAU: Arizona and MSU (FBS and one team that's out)

While this doesn't take into account head to head, such as EWU and NAU beating UM and SELA beating McNeese. the "quality" of losses favor the Griz most likely and hurt Towson the most.

EDIT: If we assume NDSU and EIU get the 1 and 2 seeds that would put these 7 teams to get the last 6 seeds. With all due respect to Fordham and Coastal Carolina I think quality of opponents favors these teams.

UNI is definitely a bubble playoff team, and has a good chance to get in I think.

And if UNI gets selected, and UM isn't a seed, I see no reason for UM to have to play them in first round. That goes for So Dak St too. Would be happy to play them later.

I wouldn't be surprised if the MVFC goes undefeated through the quarterfinals. Definitely do not want to see them matched up against Montana in the bracket. Keep it as late as possible.

I'm talking the first round next Saturday, if UM doesn't get a seed. Who will UM play? One of these bubble MV teams or someone like SHS? San Diego deciding it can't do the playoffs may have screwed the Big Sky, assuming SD would have won the auto bid (which I quit following).

I may end up being bass ackwards wrong, but I believe there is NO way the No. 5 team in the country doesn't get a Top 8 seed.

If you look at the season results of NAU and UM, what would make you think UM would get a seed over NAU?

Then, what would make you think the BSC would get more than 2 seeded teams?

Because the Griz did something NAU couldn't. They beat the cats in Bozeman

You just want to overlook the fact that NAU beat the Griz? NAU did finish ahead of UM in the BSC?
Who cares? Conference standings don't matter.

While I think that NAU should be ranked ahead of the Griz, the reality is they are not and will not get seeded higher than us.

I think

I don't think anyone can accurately predict the seeds after the first two. If Jim O'Day was still on the panel, I would feel pretty good. Don't know who is in his position now, or which school will benefit from that help.
That being said, I don't know based on history of past selections that they worry so much about head to head from way back. I always got the impression that they seemed to look at the last month to see if a school was trending hot or cold. If so, good for us. But the panel seems to be looking at who has teh possibility to go all the way. If I remember right, wasn't it Towson that was left out at 10-2 last year? If so, it could be the same for them another year.

The PSU AD is on the committee. Don't know who the chair is. Lots of AD's from non-playoff and lesser schools.

My biggest concern when the season began, which was getting to the playoffs has been addressed. My concern of inconsistent pass defense is no long much of a concern. It's been a long regular season, I am finally relaxing knowing the GRIZ are in the playoffs. No matter what Missoula will have playoff football.

I think our biggest concern will be how much alcohol we should get for a playoff run!!!! CHEERS to the team and GRIZNATION, PLAYOFF FOOTBALL IS BACK IN MISSOULA!!!!!!

With Maine loosing Griz should be #4, does that give Montana a seed?

My best guess on seeds...

1. NDSU
2. EIU
3. EWU
4. Towson
5. SEL
6. MSU (assuming they beat Lamar tonight
7. Griz
8. Maine

I don't think you're far off, I would like to see UM 6th if EWU is 3rd though.

Looks good to me. Hope you're right.

McNeese had to come from behind to beat now 5-7 Lamar in the last minute. I could see UM being seeded above McNeese. Lost 41-6 to UNI and 41-7 to SELa.

I would be shocked to see Towson in front of either the Griz or SELA. I could see McNeese getting the 5, but I think the Griz have a decent shot at it as well.

I was watching a CBS channel earlier and Towson was playing JMU. When it shows the teams ranking next to there name it is usually the TSN/AP poll ranking isn't it?

U of Montana TSN ranking is #5 right? Yet during the Towson game today, they had #5 next to there name. Does the CAA use the coaches poll to rank there teams? Towson is #5 in the coaches poll i believe.

I would doubt that the committee would seed two Big Sky teams above the first CAA team, especially when that league has the reputation of being the toughest in the country. Part of the reason you will probably see two 7-5 teams from the MVC get in, because that conference is considered the toughest.
