Lots of FCS playoff action today … IF you have the DirecTV Sports Pack. They are also streaming on ESPN3 and/or WatchESPN. Chances are they are also being broadcast on Dish in at least some areas.
Code:
St. Francis (PA) at Villanova 12:00 pm 793
Weber State at Chattanooga 12:00 pm 790
Lehigh at New Hampshire 12:00 pm 792
Charleston Southern at Wofford 12:00 pm 794
North Carolina A&T at Richmond 12:00 pm 791
Illinois State at Cent. Arkansas 1:00 pm 788
Samford at Youngstown State 3:00 pm 789
San Diego at Cal Poly 5:00 pm 788
With two Big Sky teams getting seeds ( :thumb: ), only two are playing today. I suppose it was the best the committee could do, but it seems a bit strange they’d have San Diego playing Cal Poly, since they already played during the regular season. Feel sorry for the Weebs, having to travel most of the way across the country to play.

It’s interesting that the committee has decided that the SoCon is “back” and deserved four bids. It’s even more interesting that they took Samford at 7-4. But in the end, they only took five 7-4 teams, and one of those was an auto-bid. Of course, they also took Illinois State (6-5), being determined to give the MVFC four bids. That bumped one of four remaining 7-4 teams: Albany, Drake, SE Louisiana and Tennessee State. By bumping Tenn State, they ended up taking only the auto-bid from the Ohio Valley … which tells you something right there. Same way with bumping SELA … only two bids for the Southland. And Fordham (8-3) might feel picked upon, but they shouldn’t … being in the pititful Patriot League.

All and all, a very interesting playoff lineup this year.

Best games so far has been the Chas Southern at Wofford and the Illinois State at Central Arkansas. Rest are pretty one-sides.

Oops! Illinois State just score to go ahead by ten, 17-7. Still competitive, at least.

Best game is still Chas Southern at Wofford. Wofford leads 15-14 in the 4th.

Pitiful crowds at every venue. I know, it's Thanksgiving weekend, but still ... :?

Bad as Weber is getting creamed (45-7), it could be worse. New Hampshire is blowing up Lehigh 64-21 ... and they have most of the 4th to go. How about some mercy rule?

So far, all the home teams have won, although it was close at Wofford (15-14) and went right down to the end at Central Arkansas (31-24).

Final playoff game of the day about to start (San Diego at Cal Poly). Game in progress: Youngstown State looking pretty good right now, Samford not so much.

Anybody else out there watching some FCS football :?:

I watched most of Weber, then went over to wofford, then checked out ISU blowing it, and now onto Cal Poly. Love this stuff.

San Diego leads by two TDs
That was not pretty. Lends weight to the "old saw" that it's hard to beat the same team twice in one year. Messy game (literally) with the wet, muddy field. Hate to say it, but San Diego just looked like they wanted it more. With minor exceptions, CP played like they just wanted to get it over. FWIW, CP was the only home playoff team that did not win.
