Players Do See EGriz.....

Of course the kids read this stuff and giggle and tee hee about all the junk that is wrong and the silly things many trolls and others print. Most of the kids know many of us E-Griz are all has beens and don't know squat. This entire deal is way overblown as most players take this in stride. What bothers most decent fans are the slob E-Grizzers that call out kids individually as that is a cowards way. That will continue to occur and moderators don't have a chance of making that stop. But slob posters a slobs. When we win slobs and trolls tend to hide under a rock, hence we have more at this point. We will end up winning again and it will eliminate many of these ______s

There was a post a while back on Maroonblood from someone named formerplayer83. He says he played on the 95 national championship team, but that must not have been his #. At any rate, the post was saying that he doesn't think the kids on the current team have a passion for football or play together like the 95 team did. That was jist of the post. It sounds to me like Keenan read that post, or maybe there was one similar to that on here that I don't recall. At any rate, I don't care of the Griz went 0-11, I wouldn't question UM player's work ethic, love of football or love of the Griz unless I had some real hard evidence that, collectively, the team was dogging it, on the field, in practice, in film, in the weight room and in the summer. I just don't see that evidence in front of me, and I'm sorry, but a 4-4 record isn't enough for me to think these kids aren't busting their asses as hard as every other Griz team has. Are they has good as the 95 team? Of course not. It's not even remotely fair to compare this team to that team, or to 2001, or hell even 2011 for that matter. But to question their effort, I actually do take exception to that, and I'm glad Curran did too.

Good. Hopefully it pisses them off and adds a little motivation. Correct. This isn't the Griz of the past. Not even close. Those teams earned that respect. You play for Montana, not Sacramento State. Pick it up, bitches.

Respect? The Griz were in the semifinal once and the finals twice in four seasons, 2006-2009. Even then there was a lot of negativity on this board. Not about losses mind you, but about not impressive enough wins.

In fairness to 83's post, only one small section was about a few players "mailing it" in and just collecting a scholarship. 83 seemed to have a relationship with coach Germer who was apparently frustrated with the OL effort. I didn't necessarily agree with all of his points but his opinions were well presented. In his mind, it really came down to a change in "culture" in UMs football program. In any event, MB is a much smaller venue. I'd be surprised if current Griz players were viewing posts over there but who knows?

It's just when he used the word passion and talked of hard work, that's the post I initially thought of. In that post, 83 also points to the lack of Montana-born players being recruited as part of the change in culture, and we all know how hard Growler beats on that drum. Interesting, 1995 national championship team had 26 players from Montana, and not one of the receivers who caught a pass from DD in the championship game were born in the Treasure State. The 2015 Griz have 33 players from Montana.

The Montana recruit thing is where he LOST me. That's a little bit of a red herring IMO. Other then that, I thought he had some interesting points. I didn't get a vibe however that he was prodded by Growler to post his sediments. I have heard that more Montana
players mantra before. So it's obviously not just a Growler opinion.....

Touché. I have said it before. The Griz can get most of their players from South America. Who cares? The Griz must be winning the ultimate recruiting battle because they routinely beat MSU. Let MSU win the "instate" recruiting battle. It's not helping their cause at all.....

As evidenced my Ellis's goodbye message of thanks last year, I think more players see EGriz than we may want to admit. Many of us are quick to put coaches, the team, and individual players on blast when we are frustrated. I'm guessing we feel that they won't see it or that it is easy to do behind a keyboard. I would like to ask us to stop and think for a second before we blast a player. These kids are giving it all they've got and it's a full time job for them.

This is from an interview that AJ did with freshman Keenan Curran. He is obviously aware of sites like EGriz. I'd venture to say the majority of our players are:

A: It means being hard working. I don’t like to admit to it, but I read some of the forums that fans have and we’re having a tough year and they try to attack us and say this isn’t the Griz of the old times, but I don’t agree with that. We have just as much passion as the other teams had. It’s just that we’re in a tough spot right now. They just need to stay with us. Things are on the up right now and we’re going to get better. Being a Griz for me means being diligent and keeping at it and being hard working.

Parents also see and read egriz, many of them are even harsher than some on this board! I talk regularly on the phone, or via text and email with many of the parents. Most are from out of state and call me for the local pulse on what's going on. I hear their thought and know what they think of coaching decisions. Most are very knowledgeable about football and know the pulse in the locker rooms and on the practice fields. Let's just say many who are critical of what is going on are those in the know of what's going on through family members of players. I have NEVER divulged specific info on what i hear from family other than what parents think of a certain Dartmouth alum.

Haha. You don't know out of state parents. You don't even know the parents of the kids in the town where you live. I remember seeing you try to talk to the Timmer dad after a game. When I asked him if he knew you, he said he didn't. You don't post much anymore, and that's good for multiple reasons. Fewer people know what a dumb ass you are.

If they are worried for their son's safety on campus, or about his grades or about is he getting enough to eat or getting enough sleep, that's one thing, but coaching decisions? That's laughable. I was in a head coaches office one time, where he was actually on the phone with the dad of his third-string QB. I could hear the dad through the phone, basically telling this coach what an idiot he is for not playing his freshman son. When the convo was over, I said "That really happens at the college level?" He replied "Every day". I asked him, how often do parents call him concerning their grades, classes or lack there of. He replied "never". Priorities.
