Player Support

hey Griz fans ... it's a dark day for the program but not a death sentence. as the program and school move forward i think it's important to never lose sight of the young men who are getting it done on the field and in the classroom. my son is one of them. the vast majority of players are trying to give fans reason to cheer 12 months a year with their dedication to studying, 6am conditioning, throwing up, practicing, playing hurt and winning on Saturdays. they're proud to be Montana Grizzlies but are wondering right now if they made the right decision by coming to Missoula. these are the young men who are going to help restore the confidence in a storied program. if you see one of them around, give him a pat on the back and tell him you'll be there cheering as loud as ever on Sept. 1 against South Dakota.

Great post! I just spoke with the parents of a 2011 Griz football player, who just graduated. He was an all-conference defensive player. They put it all into prospective. Only a few of the kids on the team are causing the problems. The vast majority of these kids are great student/athletes who we can all be proud in supporting.

My support will not waver!

Heard all the starters are protesting the firing and all the second and third stringers say its a great thing. ;)

First post. I am a proud parent of a player and will continue to support my son's decision to play for such a quality University and a program so rich in history. The program in Missoula will continue to be strong and my son is proud to be part of it regardless of what happened today. Tomorrow the team will regroup, players will play, coaches will coach. What plays out will be positive and when I am on campus to watch the Griz perform, I know they will play their hearts out for the University and the community that supports them so passionately. There are so many great players on the team. It is great to be a Griz family and it is still great to be so pumped for football season in Missoula. I love to make the trip, what a great place to enjoy the greatest game on the face of the earth. I vowed to never post on this site, but there is always a time to tell it like it is. Go Griz!

Most posters on here need to remember the feeling they had only two seasons ago when the Griz missed the playoff's. The majority of fans wanted Pflu gone then.

Well be careful what you wish for. This program is much bigger then any one or two persons!

It ultimately is about the kids! Never let down your support for them!

Awesome and couldn't agree more.

Good support for these kid at a time like this. Good for all of you Griz fans showing player support at this juncture. This will take some time to heal, but it will heal! The players we have (and are getting) will continue to get all of my support along with my wife's and that of our family. Our business's will always support the kids and the UM's athletic program.

We will continually get behind all of these young hard working kids and we expect other fans to feel the same way. If any of you players ever read any of this we like to feel we have your back, so hang in, it ain't over yet!!!!! Yeah, Go Griz!

Great post. It's more about players than coaches when all is said and done.

I agree with everyone's sentiments supporting the players. The program is about them. For all of them that have put in the hours, blood, sweat and tears and done it in the right manner, I'm hanging my hat on them. You give this group the right opportunities and I have no doubt we will have more than enough to be proud.

I was a Griz fan 60 years ago ... and I'll be a Griz fan tomorrow ... and on Sept. 1 when So. Dakota comes to town. Today's been a tough one, but both the fans and the team will rise above today and move on to better things. Go Griz!

Thank you Grizdad81. Dont sweat about breaking your promise about posting on this site, you have a good message to tell.

To every GRIZ fan who will be at the season home opener, give every remaining GRIZ, a well deserved loud and proud pregame ovation, and give them a standing ovation as long as you can hold out. Now that would be showing our support.

GO GRIZ

We are behind you all the way........................

I hope the administration moves quickly to name a interim HC. Right now the focus needs to be on maintaining the confidence of the team and new recruits. The sky is not falling and a rally in the stadium would not hurt. Griz Nation needs to show their support now more than ever. This is not a death sentence - this is an opportunity!

Looks like it's pretty important for our student athletes to absolutely stay away from the jersey chasing party girls in this town. For an example, read the article in the University's Kaiman news rag written by a certain "victim" who could represent the sluts available in Missoula. She is the type that gives a bad rep for the women at U of M. Our "good" student athletes need all the support and mentoring they can get.

The 6 years I spent in Missoula as a student have shaped me to who I am today. I love the community, I love the University, I love the Grizzlies. That will never ever change regardless of anything. I honestly look at this similar to how I looked at my divorce last year. It hurt like hell, but there was so much poison in the relationship that it had to be ended. I am a year out from that and I am a better man, a better dad, and a hell of a lot happier. I don't blame Pflugrad or O'Day for all of what happened, but I think it was time for a divorce. It's gonna hurt for awhile, but the University and the Grizzlies will be better down the road. Good luck current Griz players. Do things the right way and we will always be there with you.
