Playcalling Sucks!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with Alpha here. Our limitations at QB really prevent us from opening up the playbook. Rosey is doing the best he can with what he has. We can't even really throw a pass down field to keep the D honest, because his long balls, even if he can get it long, are dangerously errant and wobbly. TM's mechanics, footwork especially, are a long ways from him being able to be an effective mid to long range passing threat. If TM can get his footwork down and learn to progress through his reads better, he might be able to fend off Gustafson and start again next year much improved.

We haven't made one offensive line adjustment at halftime all year. Gragg seems lost out there and I don't get it. He was a great player, but I don't see any motivation out of him.

Nimrod , he's not calling the plays. What has worked all year is running it north/south. 400 yards at ewu. Most up the gut.

The strength of this team is straight ahead running the ball. The weakness is trying to get cute in the running game, the stretch plays and wide options that don't work. Why are we still doing this after 7 weeks.

The problem is not the o line.

So, what happens to the Griz if TM should be hurt or have to go out of a game? Does the coach just throw in the towel or what, since there seems to be no backup worth trying.

Maybe the fact that teams are now stacking the box and stopping the one thing your offense does well is a factor in what they call, It also doesn't help that the only decent RB you have is out

Out offense actually does quite a few things well in the first half before we get a lead. After we get a lead they get handcuffed by the play calling and ...interesting... coaching strategies like kicking off every half or other brilliant methods of making sure the other team is on offense as much as possible.

Maybe we are taking the whole "Defense wins championships" a little too literally, and thinking that the more our defense is on the field the better...

Anyway, Nguyen and Canada are both averaging over 5 yards a carry, and McKinney is at 4.8. Our running game is perfectly fine until it becomes 100% clear that it is all we are going to do on 1st and 2nd down (with an occasional, but rare, quick pass to the WR on the sideline for 2 yards). Predictability after we go in our usual 2nd half shell is what kills our offense.

That's our half time adjustment when we have the lead...every...damn...game.

It's like the game plan in the first half is:
"Ok, lets do what worked in the first half last game....mix it up a bit, keep the defense guessing and tired on the field with the no huddle, and use the middle of the field with an occasional downfield pass to keep them honest".
Game plan in the 2nd half or once we get a lead is:
"Great! That worked well...now lets really mix things up! Lets not do what worked in the first half at all anymore, and instead do exactly what we did in the 2nd half of last games...no more passing at all ever on first down, and no passing on 2nd down either dammit! Ok ok...we might throw on 2nd down, but ONLY a quick pass to a WR on the sideline for between -2 and 2 yards. I don't want to see ANY slants or throws to the middle of the field. And I damn well better not see any pass attempts over 3 yards on 2nd down until we are down by at least 7 late in the 4th quarter, got it?!"
"But coach...didn't we lose against NAU and EWU in the 2nd half when we did that"
"ARE YOU QUESTIONING MY AUTHORATAI!? Oh, and we are going to kick off to start this half too...defense wins championships people!"

At least that's what I'm guessing the conversation goes like at halftime.

I know he isn't making the calls dipshit. He IS responsible for suggesting halftime adjustments based on how the defense is reacting to plays called in the first half. He is NOT doing that. Maybe if you knew more about it you would be qualified to respond. :thumb:

Others have mentioned it: this offense has no identity, at all, and its not just Xs and Os. It has nothing in common with Pflu's offense, particularly the tempo. They are in a hurry when they should be taking their time and vice-versa. Also, their personnel packages telegraph the play. When you see a non-typical player sub in or go in motion (do anything out of the norm), you can bet the play goes to him. In fact, it looks like the worst version of bobby-ball i could imagine as there is no threat for play-action pass, and no power running. It's like they took the worst parts of our O over the past decade and made frankenstein's ugly baby.
