Have any of you watched this kid's videos? Generally, I wouldn't look twice at a lower-division Montana high school player, regardless of numbers. But this kid is amazing, incredibly quick with a crafty smooth handle. He's listed at 6'1" so is probably at least two inches shorter. But this kid can play. I hope our coaches have taken notice.

Buttegrizzle inquired about him on the recruiting thread (page 3), and then posted that he had learned Malatare is going to play at MT Tech.

Kid is an absolute stud and the #1 high school player in MT. I saw him play in the class c tourney last year and he's on a different level

.....compared to all other players in the state that you've also watched? Haven't seen him play. Hear he's good. Class C is also a "different" level.

I've seen him play several times. His skills are all there. There's no question about that. His size and level of competition is what's worked against him as a potential DI player. I know he has a relationship with the Griz coaching to staff. To say the Griz haven't recruited him at all would be inaccurate. I have no idea if he's ever been in contact with Fish and the Cats. But, there has been interest from the Griz and him to the Griz. I just don't think it was ever going to go as far as a scholarship offer though. And actually, he's not committed yet to anywhere, and has offers from every single Frontier Conference school.

Sorry should have clarified....according to some rankings that Montana Sports came out with ranking the top 20 players in MT.

Here's the list:

Right now he is averaging 27 pts, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals per game. That's insane.

He would torch anybody at any level in Montana high school basketball fact!!

I've seen him play twice and for me he just doesn't pass the eye test for getting a Griz scholarship. He was playing against terrible competition and I can't remember him even taking a shot... scored most of his points on break away lay-ups. No dunks. He's quick but not overly athletic.

But I do hope he walks on with the Griz. You never know how he could develop....

Understand your take but I watched him against Box Elder 2 years ago and he has the tools. Can be your point guard or you 2. He took over that game when he had to and was aggressive. With the level of talent the Griz now have I think he could be a very good first or second guy off the bench and be just fine.
