Phillip Malatare of Arlee - Cascade Conference Player of Year

"He averaged 19.9 a game to lead the CCC.

Malatare was also in the top 10 in the conference in rebounds, field goals, steals and 3-pointers. He dished out 63 assists and shot 81.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Mountaineers were second in the CCC with a 16-6 record and took second in the postseason tournament, earning a spot in the upcoming NAIA National Tournament. Tuesday's award followed Malatare’s 2021-22 Newcomer of the Year recognition.

Malatare joined Eastern Oregon in La Grande in 2021 after playing two seasons at North Idaho. He earned honorable mention All-American honors as a junior."

Wish he'd have gotten a shot at UM but your observation is probably correct. This young man should be proud. Has had lots of attention over the past few years and handled it very well.

This is awesome. Those Arlee teams were pretty special.
