Phenicie 2.0

Our current offense could not be more different than what Phenecie ran here in the 2000's.

"I think it's bad" isn't a reason for why it's similar lol

He was hired as an offensive analyst.

So now we have a thread dedicated to how we need “Bobby Ball” back (Phenicies offense where we went to 3 national title games and won 7 Big Sky championships in a row)

And then we have you saying his offense was horrible and he shouldn’t be on staff.

I think some fans are bristling at criticism of the coaching staff. It is warranted quite frankly. This staff has “their” guys and this offense is very ineffective. Is it like Phen’s first go round. Maybe not, but it isn’t working. I am not a fire the staff fan. I just hope there are some changes this next week. Hell, I wish they would pound the ball - because what they are doing isn’t working!!

Many of the three and outs were the result of pounding the ball.

I didn’t remember it this way so I looked. Montana had 4 three and outs. Three started with incomplete passes, and the fourth was a rush by Fontes - hardly a player pounding the ball.

Come on, man. Phen can't even interact with the players, which is good. Keep their ears from bleeding.

That said, I don't know whether his insights as an analyst are worth much after watching the Griz struggle against Idaho State. Did he offer nothing useful about his former team? Maybe a few tips about player weaknesses?

Remember that this guy went from being OC at UNLV to head coach of academics. I once looked at his UNLV bio was surprised to see that the Rebels narrative on Phen said nothing about his Griz experience other than Montana was his previous stop. They even mentioned his OC stint at Cal State Northridge.

He's got that drinking buddy in need of a couch to sleep on vibe.

Yep. Only four times did they start a drive with 2 running plays. And twice they got the first down on the 2nd run, once on the first run. They may have “pounded the ball”, but it was later in drives, not to open them.
