Perspective

Maybe not, but I’m not all sour grapes as you seem to think. I think we’ve got the best qb and rb and wr trio in the country. How’s that for sugar? We have one of the best if not the very best offense in the FCS. If it’s humming it as sweet of an offense that you’re going to see at this level.
I just thought you were a whiner.

Here’s a hot take. The team playing the best ball in the FCS isn’t in the Dakota's. They’re in the state of Montana. They’re unfortunately located in Bozeman. Their defense is absolutely taking them to the title this year. Defense wins championships. I’ve seen enough. Theirs is a championship caliber defense. They’ve given up just 44 points in conference play. For reference, Griz have given up 129.
Wake me up when they beat someone. ANYone.

I realize that this looks like my first post. I use to post under a different handle. I tried to login again this morning and I had rhe wrong password. I tried to reset it, but I either registered before an email was required or the email address I used I don’t have any longer.

My new handle is the last year I played for the Griz, and when you younger fans talk about throw backs, the current colors of maroon and silver are what we wore in the 60’s.

I digress, while my wife and myself are at home we attend all the Griz home games. We are getting older so now we fly down to our house in Arizona (not our home as our home will always be in Montana). If we still drove down we would have been at the game yesterday.

I will give my perspective, even as an 80 year old I still keep learning and watching the game. My son coaches and my grandson is still playing football in Montana, high school, to be honest.

I’m not a betting man by nature, and with the recent news I think that’s ok.

With regards to the Brawl, I would say that the Griz will be a 3 to 5 point favorite going into the game, if they both win the next two games/weeks.

I think the Griz have the better offense and the Cats have a better defense. That is my opinion, no science behind that statement.

I also believe that Gilman and Wortham need to play to their potential for the Griz to win. While Ah Yat has turned into the QB we expected he will need help. I don’t think that Wortham or Nacho will be a factor in the return game. Neither team will want to kick the ball to them.

If the Brawl is decided by fewer than 5 points and they both win their games the next two weeks does anyone think the selection committee would/will seed them #2 and #3?

A Brawl in the semifinals would be, well probably the biggest Brawl ever. The only bigger Brawl would be if they both made it to Nashville early next year.

I guess they will seed the winner as the #2 seed the loser as a #6 or #7 seed and it would be a quarter final or semi final Brawl as well.

I maybe an exception with this next comment, but I hope that both teams win the next two games and the Brawl is close with the Griz winning and the Cats get the #2,6 or7 seed so we can beat them TWO times in the same season.

Also, without my grandkids close by right now can someone please help me with getting rid of all the damn ads on the forum, it’s really annoying for an old guy.

The grandkids help me out with stuff like the ads and other technologies.

you claim to be old, yet you call it 'the brawl' instead of what it is, cat-griz?

Well we always called it Cat-Griz, but over the past 15 to 20 years some have started calling it Griz-Cat. That has never seemed correct to me so my grandkids told me to call it the Brawl. I started thinking about the Griz-Cat name and I don’t like it. Has anyone ever heard of the Navy-Army game? Off course not because it’s Army-Navy.

Try a browser that blocks ads. I use Brave but I think duckduckgo and maybe some others also do the same thing.

Did I say anything about the defense? Nope. I just didn't need hm.grwn.griz to explain because he has blathered so often there was no need for more.
Well you don’t have to read my posts and read my “blather”. Just click my name, then hit ignore. That simple. It’s what I did with hoops as of yesterday, and what’s being done with yours now. Easy. Now I won’t see what you post. Problem solved..

After NDSU absolutely trounced SDSU last week, all the national media and most our fans (including myself) said it’s NDSU and everyone else is playing for 2nd place. That was BEFORE we all realized just how bad SDSU is right now. After losing to Indy St at home, they are literally a shell of themselves. I actually think NDSU should have beat them even worse so maybe there is a chink in the NDSU armor somewhere.
NDSU definitely didn’t look invincible yesterday

NDSU definitely didn’t look invincible yesterday

Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but I think on a good day, we can beat NDSU with our potent offense and improving defense !!!

And something else that occurs to me--if --IF--we earn our way to Tennesse in the national championship, we may or may not be facing NDSU since the Bison, afterall, are really good but not invincible. !!!

We just have to worry about ourselves and take care our own business, prepare for the upcoming team we're going to play and beat them, and not worry about other teams whose destiny we don't control. At 9-0, we've obviously been doing a good job of doing exactly that thus far. !!!

Go GRIZ. !!!

It’s 💩like this that I don’t post much.

Even if you played for the Griz in the past, it’s the Griz playing the game, working their asses off year round on the field and in the classroom.

The “we” 💩 needs to stop. I’m pretty sure that individuals posting on here are not playing or coaching our Griz.

I know that many people on this forum are very/highly invested and involved in the program, both financially and emotionally. I don’t discount that for one second.

Yet, “We” are not the ones one the field for 12 to 16 Saturdays a year.

We, are here to support the/our Griz.

I’m sure several of the “We’s” are going to be butt hurt by this post and will come after me from your keyboards or phone and that is fine.

I don’t really give a 💩,

Same sh*t you said last year. The truth is that the bobcats have definitely had the harder schedule. I think as stated here the cats have the better defense and the griz have the better offense. I'll take the griz offense at home given that scenario in Missoula. A neutral field or in Bozeman might be different. The griz just can't be flat to start the game. It's going to be a fun one.

Yeah, I can see that you think SDSU is not a legit comp. But, if you are paying real close attention. We were starting the year with a new QB, new OC and entirely fucked up o-line with injured starting center. Offense has been improving a lot later in the season and o-line is healthy and playing their assigned positions.

Facts are MSU is allowing 11 points per game in FCS, and a double OT 30 pts is skewing up that numerator.

If you want a common opponent. We throttled lSU…. 34-14 by halftime and they scored 0.0 points H2. A team the Griz TRAILED for 2+ quarters until the final two mins.

Make no mistake, I think the Griz are a good team this year. But the Cats improving and mostly dominating. FFS, Cats are averaging 500+ yrds and 45 pts per game last three games - not exactly slouchy offense.
The cats are a run up the score and the stats team. When did they pull their starting QB yesterday? Their season statistics are padded by that.
Coach Hauck is not one to pound a weak opponent into oblivion like Vigen seems to take great joy in doing.

I don’t really give a 💩,
When people say “we” when referring to their team it’s completely normal. It’s about identity. As fans we internalize our team as part of our social self concept . In sociology it’s called social identity theory, where people derive part of their sense of self from the groups they belong to. That could be their family, country, religion, sports team…etc…. By saying “we” it reflects our identification. In short, it’s normal, and most fans do it.
