PEP BAND

I went to the weber game and decided that it is time to start drinking at the games. so i watched the game by myself and drank, it was fun...more people should do it...more people would cheer and get "rowdy". STUDENTS: GET DRUNK AND GO TO BASKETBALL GAMES! :dope:
 
Hey, nobody's immune to bias.

...but I agree that some band kids can be irritating. The griz peps however are awesome and bring more energy than than our meek student section from game to game. In the future I hope that they are but one of the unique and terrifying aspects of the Dahlberg aura.

What is any different if the band does it compared to you or I or another student or fan? They have just as much right to spew shit, they just happen to be in the band. Can any band person let me know whether a year of pep band is required?
 
No offense to the pep banders, but if they are what scares the other team when they come here grizzly basketball is at rock bottom. teams should be in awe because of the whole crowd. i hate gonzaga, but i love the atmosphere there. thats how a college basketball game should feel
 
man, i couldnt agree more. the student section should get more rowdy and the band things should just toot their horns and then wait til they get back in their dorms to play tummy sticks.
 
"student section" should get more rowdy? The Q I have to ask is, "what exactly would you categorize as "THE" student section. Is it on the floor by the south end, how about the north end on the floor, how about the upper section on the north side?

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but there is not actually a student section. Hence, less involvement from students. Do you think students would cheer as hard at WA-Griz if they were clustered in 100-person sections randomly around the stadium? I'd be willing to say NO. Give the students a section where they can all sit/stand, and they will come and cheer loud.

No conflict of interest, I'm not a student.
 
Q: What school has a band as cool as ours?

I'll answer: No School!

We have a band that can into opposing team's heads. It's a very Montana thing that should be cherished like Monte, the North End Zone and Ted Kaczynski.

Again, what give you more right than them to cheer and have fun at games? Does being in a band take away your regular person privelages? I know lots of people that have been in band who are great sports fans and even athletes. That is a rather stupid comment.

Heres an idea, try & act you aren't still in high school for more than 5 minutes. If the band bothers you, DON'T GO TO THE GAMES!

Have you missed the HUGE sign that says "Student Section" on it? or maybe you missed the little signs above the pep band that says "UM student section" They are two places for students to sit yet they still dont come to the games, we will see if they are most interested when most of them arrive back in town for the Portland State game on the 26th
 
But it would be nice if the two student sections were right next to eachother. The students used to have a whole side.
 
The band in high school is not like the band in college. Yes, in high school most of the kids in the pep band are nerds. However, I know some really popular kids in the pep band here at the U, they just happen to be doing something you like. Half of the games, they are only students who do any sort of cheering what so ever. Some of us where even athletes ourselves at one point. I have friends who were all state football players and musicians at the same time. I have never understood the animosity towards the pep band here. The fans should be cheering them on (unless they cross the line, which has been known to happen), not belittling them for being passionate fans.

Well said Grizband. One of my friends was in the marching band. If you saw her on campus you wouldn't have thought "Wow look at that band nerd" you would have thought wow that girl is HOT! I personally like the band & a lot of the stuff they do to annoy the other team. I just wish we could Nate the tuba player back.

What years was she in the marching band? I was in it from 2000-2005, and some of the hottest girls I have ever known were in the band.

off topic, but because i am not a computer nerd, and have just recently began to learn what the hell lol, and imo mean, i was surprised when i made my first few posts and instead of getting replies on the topic, i had no less than 5 griz fans to tell me to stop shouting because I TYPED LIKE THIS. while i thought it was the cheesiest thing i have ever heard of, i obliged because i like this sight and many of the posters. but i am amazed that griz fans stretch so far to disagree with cat fans about something, that they consider upper-case typing YELLING. and if this really is the case, why have i now read 8 posts from griz fans that have been written in upper-case, and no mention of SHOUTING? i know this sounds trivial, but do you guys really need to go that far for an argument? maybe this will start another one. after all i have been very rude "whispering" this whole post. i should speak up so as not to hurt any feelings. just dont want to hurt any ears! :lame:

Not being a computer nerd myself, I was unaware of this at first. However, according to rules or internet etiquette, typing in all caps is the same as yelling.

Using all caps means your trying to get ur point across by yelling, and I personally dont like it when people use all caps, but I wont call out a person to tell them not to do. I totally see ur argument but here is my hypothesis

1. your a cat fan so automatically we dont like you
2. yes we will go as far as that to start an arguement because what would a message board be like without argueing?
3. your still a cat fan
