Yes, ultimately the players have to perform. However, the coaches recruit and implement game plans.
However, the players need to execute said game plan.
The D is good and played fairly well except for losing receivers in man coverage a few times. Davis has a good offense.
Whose fault was it that Davis D controlled line of scrimmage?
The defense played horribly. it looked like Davis was playing a 7-on-7 drill. This is the worst safety tandem the Griz have ever put on the field.

This is spot on. The Defense played poorly on Saturday. Bobby, on multiple occasions, stopped our senior captain safety coming off the field because receivers were running uncovered all night. The confusion was obvious.Just gonna have to agree to disagree with most of us on that one. I think everyone who removes their rose colored glasses can see that the defense is just downright bad this year. The same mistakes over and over again. Personnel issues on the d-line are a coaching and recruiting issue. Linebackers who lack the speed to play this defense is a coaching and recruiting issue. Then on the offensive inside I don’t know where to begin. We again have no identity, the player rotations make no sense and hurt the productivity of the offense. The offensive line can’t block to save their lives. I watched a series in slow motion yesterday where the entire right side of the line was beat like a drum three plays in a row. Simply could not block UC Davis’s d line. I won’t call for jobs, but I will say that the product on the field this year dropped so dramatically from most year that some serious self scouting needs to take place. Maybe give your best back the bulk of the carries, maybe don’t rotate out your best QB when he’s just starting to heat up….. maybe, just maybe this team isnt any good this year. That’s sometimes the case. Griz struggled against bad teams this year, and lost to one VERY bad team on Weber. They might just be a mediocre team.
To be fair, which players are you referring to? Outside of Edwards and Bergen I don't see many that could've gone elsewhere. This isn't like Gronowski leaving multiple Big Ten offers to stay at SDSU to finish the job... The Griz lost a ton of talent last year on defense...

On one hand, the players, because they got out played. On the other hand, the coaches, because the talent just isn’t good enough.
