On January 14, 2016, Pease was named offensive coordinator at UTEP. During his first season, the Miners went 4–8, 2–6 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for fifth place in the West Division.

In the first 3 games of the 2017 season, UTEP's offense ranked 128th out of 129 teams in the FBS in total offense, 124th in scoring offense, 129th in rushing offense and 129th in first downs per game.[6]

On September 17, 2017, Pease was fired after an 0-3 start to the season.

It needs to happen again

Let me add: the entire offensive staff. But Bobby won’t, so it’s going to have to be the whole staff. Maybe we can get my grandma to coach. She’s been gone for 10 years, but I think she could STILL do a better job.

Here’s the thing. It’s not that it’s an offensive philosophy that isn’t working. That is true But it’s easy things. Easy things that a 6th grader knows that aren’t happening.

If it’s 4th and 1. Give the ball to a heavier human. Not your lightest human. That’s simple physics.

If you have a player like Bergen that is possibly the biggest playmaker in the league. Give him the ball early and often. Do not save it until the last 3 drives. That’s easy football 101.

It’s simple things like that that make me think that Brent Pease is a stupid person. His philosophy isn’t to blame. His football IQ is to blame. His basic understanding of every day life is to blame. He is a stupid stupid stupid stupid individual. If you can’t do the simple things in football you sure as shit can’t do the hard things.

Don’t be stupid.

Does she still know that if you need a yard it’s better to give the ball to the 225lb guy over the 170lb guy?

Strangely enough, yes! She always liked bigger guys…

Maybe BH in in the "size doesn't matter" crowd...

I think I have this coordinator thing figured out - our OC and DC need to drink a lot more. Look what it did for the mouser's OC and DC. Their offense leads the entire FCS in 5 categories!!!

I'm obviously a big supporter of Hauck 2.0 in comparison to many here, but this failure doesn't lay at the feet of the OC. Our offense this year looks like our offense last year. Both our offense and our defense are Bobby's. Pease is doing what he is told. If it works, give credit to both of them for the scheme and the play calling. If this show crashes and burns from here on out, I would lay more of the blame at Hauck's feet. He has made clear to his coordinators what he wants the offense and defense to run.

Has he? HAS he made it clear? Because it certainly doesn’t seem “clear” to the players, coaches or fans…I can’t recall a Griz team that has looked so discombobbled for an entire game…

Blocked punt
Fumbles
dropped passes
Missed blocking assignments
Players quitting while the play was still going
Lack of effort
Lack of communication/understanding scheme
Interceptions
Multiple 4th and short failures
Penalties
Did I mention missed blocking assignments?
Missed XP’s
Suckered (AGAIN) on trick plays

There wasn’t a single phase of the game, AT ANY POINT during that game, where I felt like…”ok, they’re getting it together now”…it literally got worse as the game went on. And neither the players nor the coaches seemed to care…laughing and joking on the sidelines…Bobby with a “deer in the headlights” look in his eye…

Yes, I think that Bobby requiring a certain offense and defensive approach is pretty clear. I've heard him say it about the 3-3-5, and it was said very openly by one of the coordinators too. I wasn't trying to defend anything, I think the blame if this doesn't turn around falls specifically on the person who said things needed to be done this way

This guy tried telling you that Pease wasn’t a good OC, but people like Hoops disagreed. If any of you were remotely honest with yourselves, you would’ve seen this coming.

On that we agree. Wonder at what point the sugar coaters like Hoops and Kem come around?
