I agree that losses can/will happen. That being said if you want your program to grow and be worthy of a top 10 MM ranking then you can't lose games like this. You can't come out flat and score 45 points..you think Duke comes out flat when playing Georgia Tech or Wake Forest this year?

No, Duke probably won't (who knows though, it could happen). However a top 10 MM team who played Duke in the finals last year only losing by 2 (Butler) just had a major let down themselves... Those types of losses happen occasionally even to very good teams. Butler was ranked #6 in the Mid Major poll the last time the poll came out. They just finished losing to 8-8 Milwaukee 76-52...

I doubt they'll drop very far out of the top 10 even with that loss. Butler is still a very good team, they just didn't play very well against Milwaukee.

Understand Dexter and what you say is valid, it is just that, when you finally think that Montana is gaining steam they pull a flop. All the threads about Cherry being the next Michael Ray etc. this brings you back down a notch..or maybe reality. Just hope they take it out on SAC

I think and hope more than anything that this game is a big dose of reality for the guys. There has been a lot of hype this year (including from Tinkle himself) about the program. Most of that is great and it's nice fans are getting excited about Griz b-ball again. But they have not arrived by any means. They are extremely talented and have tons of potential, but they still have to prove themselves on the court EVERY game.

They'll be fine when they show their determination, guts, and hustle again. What do they say? You're never as bad as you think nor as good as you think.

i see what you're saying but i really don't think this is a case of an overconfident team looking past anyone. you may have had some overconfident fans at times but i don't think the players are getting cocky or anything. you guys lost on the road to a very good conference opponent. an opponent picked to finish ahead of you in the preseason polls. every now and then a college team goes through their conference undefeated. duke might have the team to do it this year but i wouldn't bet on it. even the best teams lose to very good conference foes. i don't know if some of you thought you were going to roll through the conference but i could have told you a long time ago that wouldn't happen. no team is going to do that...and we're likely to all beat up on eachother.

No, I certainly didn't think we would roll through the conference. I don't think there will be such a thing as a gimmie win in this conference - especially playing on the road. I was sensing there may have been some overconfidence heading in to this game and to hear Will Cherry say they may have looked past UNC confirms that. I agree there will be a lot of beating up on each other before year end and obviously the teams (or team) that can hold their own on the road will prevail. Sad as it is, I almost think a drubbing is a good thing to have happen. As was said before, the interesting thing to see will be how the team responds to this loss.
