Over/Under Dan Moore

If he can stay healthy, at the break-neck pace he plays at I worry he'll get dinged up/hurt/slowed down. But if he can avoid anything serious... yeah I could see it.

I mean 2 games into the season he's the Big Sky's:

#1 rusher with 241 yards and has the best per game average at 120.5
#8 receiver with 149 yards
#1 in all-purpose yards with 195/game

I agree on the health issue. Hopefully, if Canada gets his act together that will take a little pressure off of Moore, I'd love to see him still leading the Big Sky in yards (and TDs) by the end of the season.

Thanks for posting his stats for the thread too, you are always on top of things Brint!

I really enjoy us running the ball and more than seeing one guy get 1000, I'd like to see 3000 on the ground by the end of the season. I do think Dan can pull it off however.

I am curious, why was Dan M. able to be so much more effective than PN? I though PN was so much quicker and faster than DM. They completly shut PN down. I realize DM is stronger and more difficult to bring down but he also seemed to have the speed to find the holes and then accelerate through them. I was very surprised at Appy's ability to take PN out of the game. Thoughts?

Dan Moore can go vertically up the field while shedding tacklers, whereas Peter Ngyuen has to go horizontal to outrun tacklers. In this case, he could not out run App St.'s defense.

Peter was about as effective as Canada this week.

I think Peter would have benefited from another blocking receiver on those runs to the outside. A few of Pete's runs were to the short side of the field with only one blocking receiver. The plays got strung out quickly because of the distance to the sideline and there always seemed to be one if not two defenders unblocked.
App's smaller back seemed to run to the long side and had at least two blockers. They blocked well, too.

The Griz are most effective going north/south, whether Moore or Peter. App had great LBs that pursued relentlessly and shut down the stretch play. Our strength is inside , sure try a few outside runs but pounding it between the tackles is our strength. Pound it, and use play action to freeze the opp safeties and get some guys past the safeties. I think this will happen as the season unfolds.

I heard broken foot for Dan, anyone else have better information? Will he be back next game or out for a while? Getting back healthy is more important than getting that 1000 yards at this point.
