Outplayed, but Griz stick with it to get the comeback win

The Griz kept after it, kept playing hard, didn’t panic, and got the win. Great comeback, especially as the 4th Q went on. Once the UND D backed off to protect the lead, the Griz O and especially the passing game rolled. Glad Loud’s penalty on the goal line didn’t cost the game. Our guys need to keep their mouths shut and be more careful. Loud is a very good player.

UND is a good team, played well, and had nice team speed. I am sure they are very disappointed. They should rise in the polls.

Ah Yat was sacked 6 times. The Griz put pressure on the UND QB and hit him hard, but no sacks. Ah Yat ended up 25-39 for 300 yards, with 2 picks win the first half. He threw some very nice passes.

368 to 460 TO, with UND on top. Rushing 68 to 202, with UND up. 1.9 average per carry, to 4.9. UM lost 42 yards on ground, mostly from sacks.

UND’s qb was only 17-40 passing for 258. He had some nice throws early, and then threw poorly. He was 12-85 rushing, with a long of 40 and an average of 7.1. The UM secondary let way too many receivers and TE's get past them.

Griz receivers dropped way too many balls. Gillman was 16-82, or 5.1 per carry.

"Davis caught the first two touchdowns of his career as his five catches and 98 receiving yards were both teams highs. Blake Bohannon added four catches for 72 yards with a long of 56, which set up a Stevie Rocker touchdown run.”

Gale had some nice catches.

Morrison is a very good and consistent kicker. ST’s made some mistakes, including penalties. UND ST’s were good too.

The guys never gave up. Didn’t get flustered. Kept coming at UND, and then got some things going their way. Two 67 yard drives for scores in the 4th Q for Griz.

I liked the officiating.

I am hoping this game gives the team confidence that they can win if they just keep working and listening to the coaches.

Good post only critique I have is about Morrison. I agree about consistency but I really wish he had more leg. We had several opportunities to flip the field today and it didn’t really happen due to short punts. Again not hating how it played out but definitely could have benefited from a stronger leg.

I think both the Griz and the Cats will get much better as the season progresses. It’s going to be an interesting conference battle. NAU wins in the last seconds at S Utah. And Mercyhurst is right there with SacSt. Never would have expected that. Also, N Colorado hanging with South Dakota.

I agree that Morrison’s punts seemed short. Most looked good, but didn’t to go as far as I thought they would. He lost a good roll when a great bounce hit one of our guys. He’s 6th in conference at 40.6.
