Note to the players. All of Griznation would love to see each and everyone of you join Ali Hurley in maroon and silver. This group very well could turn out to be the group that puts Montana basketball on the map. I would love to see all these girls do it as a group with the GRIZ, not individually by playing at different schools. This would be the perfect group to finally bring Selvig national acclaim. Montana knows how fortunate we are to have Selvig as coach. I hope all these players think the way Ali has in the decision process. Ali, thanks for being the 1st of this group to lead by example. Here is a copy of the article. (Is it possible to put together a boys team to make this much noise?)
Big Sky Hoops wins Arizona Elite

PHOENIX — The Big Sky Hoops AAU girls’ basketball squad torched the competition in the 17-U division last weekend, dominating the prestigious Arizona Elite tournament.
The Arizona Elite is a college viewing tournament attended by 200-plus collegiate head coaches and scouts.
Big Sky Hoops founder and head coach Bill Hill said coaches from schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, USC, Washington and Gonzaga along with both Montana schools attended the tournament to scout the best players in the country.
The Hoopsters ran their season record to 20-1 en route to an undefeated tournament showing.
Big Sky opened bracket play last Friday by defeating the Arizona Demons 65-47 and followed by beating California’s Orange County Elite 58-41.
On Saturday, Big Sky dropped two California teams — Cal Swish, 40-6, and Orange County Swish, 56-3,4 — to win the 16-team bracket.
Sunday, the Hoopsters defeated Portland’s Wash Co. 51-28 to set up a championship game in Wells Fargo Arena, Arizona State’s home court.
In the title game, Montana’s elite AAU team obliterated West Valley Club from San Jose, Calif. 50-30, effectively putting Montana kids in the mix for major Division I scholarships.
“These coaches are now realizing that Montana has some talented players,” Hill said. “I was able to talk to some of the coaches from bigger schools like the Pac-10 schools and they like what they are seeing.” Leading Big Sky over the weekend was Missoula Big Sky standout Joslyn Tinkle with 90 points and 67 rebounds and Anaconda’s Ali Hurley with 75 points.
“Joslyn is just a dominant player,” added Hill about the 6-foot-3 junior post. “She is unstoppable down low. It was also nice seeing Ali play her true position around the perimeter. She is easily one the best shooters in the state.” Bozeman junior and Montana’s Gatorade Player of the Year, Kirsten Tilleman, tallied 48 points and 21 steals while Anaconda’s Torry Hill led the team with 38 assists.
Also for the Hoopsters, Dillon’s Hayley Pettit added 18 points, Anaconda’s Korey Krumm had 17 and Big Timber’s Mckenzie Foster dropped in 21.
Others also participating on the team were Butte High’s Brianne McClafferty, Great Falls CMR’s Mary Anderson and Sidney’s Jordan Sullivan.
Big Sky Hoops will next play in the Best in the West tournament in Yakima, Wash., May 11-13. They are coached by Hill, Tom Krumm and Lisa Tinkle.
