man I hate the scats as much as anybody but way lack of facts to be spewing the crap that is coming out of some people's pie hole. anybody ever look at the list of banned substances? Talk about jumping to conclusions with no facts.

Honest post: I don’t really blame the player in a situation like this (if it truly was a banned OTC supplement and not actual HGH or something). I think it’s lack of supervision on a program level, and I’d think the same if it was UM. Agree with you and wbtfg that nobody really knows what happened. The reinstatement is a separate issue. WTF happened there?

Don’t know what happened but Costello is taking responsibility for the delay. It’s one thing to joust and troll about most things cat/griz , but blasting players by name, and then slamming their families shows zero integrity. Ort made a stupid mistake & has paid a huge price. He , and his family have handled it better than most here will handle the loss to Idaho today.

I guess I dont understand the problem. Is it not ok to call a cheater a cheater anymore? The kid took a banned substance which ostensibly gave him a competitive advantage. And while a little mean, sure, is it wrong to say his parents raised a cheater, which given the circumstance is a simple statement of fact? If my kid goes and commits murder, did I not raise a murderer?

I’m already over the loss today. Thinking of what to do with that free weekend now that I won’t be traveling to watch that ugly ass offense of ours in Ogden

Agreed, and I’ve done no slamming of the kid or the family. Just the program, which is still allowed, I believe. I’m sure the strength coach, etc. will make sure to warn better in the future. “Not allowed to take anything you haven’t run by me first” type thing. (I guess that could be problematic from a medical standpoint, but you catch my drift).

They were illegal as far as the NCAA is concerned  so what was said that is untrue exactly?

You don’t know what he took. A banned substance could be a poppy seed on a bran muffin. That actually did happen when I was in the military. Your post has an air of supreme confidence that you know. You don’t. I hope you get what’s coming to you and what you deserve.
I don't think the NCAA is looking for illicit drugs so a poppy seed muffin would not apply. They are looking for PED's usually steroids. I don't think any fan should be on their high horse about a player on any team that fails a drug test. Those things are so common in college sports.

I think its time I apologize for some of what I said in this thread. . I took things too far in some of the things I’ve been saying. A little hot blood in me can sometimes make my mouth run. So, I apologize for speaking so negatively on Ort and his family, whom I’m sure are a great Montana family. I got carried away and said some stupid things that I’m not proud of and wouldn’t dare say outside the confines of a message board, where I sometimes become a real keyboard warrior. So to anyone that I offended, I sincerely apologize.

The list of banned substances is a long one!

Bump, here is the actual story and outcome, to set the record straight. I know some egriz douchebags were completely trashing this kid for the below. I wouldn't be surprised if some use this as an opportunity to do it again. The reason I posted this here is to set the record straight about the fact this this was a mistake, it was something in an over the counter substance that Ortt admitted he should have rsearched more thoroughly.

Ortt tested positive for a banned substance that he didn’t know was in an over-the-counter supplement he consumed, according to Vigen.

“It was a supplement I took that I didn't check well enough,” Ortt said. “I had the tools to check it off and I didn't, and it tested positive for something that is banned by the NCAA, and so I had to pay for that.”

Or, he took the supplement knowing what was in it, thought he wouldn't get caught, and then told this story when he got caught. What was the supplement? That would help people figure out if this story is credible or not.

This is so weird. And so bubcat.

Guy gets popped for hot vim prior to last season. Illegal performance enhancing drugs, probably roids. The dirty cheaters let him play all last year up to the NC game.

Suspended 6 games. He was supposed to return last week—as a starter no less!—but still not eligible according to ncaa.

Coach VI literally updated the 2deep and was all excited for the guy to start. However, the roider will miss at least two additional games because…?

Would love a bubbly to fill in the blank. I am assuming he flunked another vim test. Doesn’t he need to turn in a clean vim test before he can be eligible? Sounds like that didn’t happen.

It is a paperwork thing. Nothing to do with any type of test. You are coming close to slander here.

“The MSU athletic department erred in the reinstatement process for Rylan Ortt," Costello said in a statement following MSU's 37-6 win over ISU. "This is simply a department mistake and is no fault of Rylan or the football program. We are working to resolve the issue to get Rylan on the field as quickly as we can.”
Hilarious when a Bobcat fan starts talking about slander when all you mother figgers have done it. 🤣

Didn’t he say it was still in his system when he was tested to be reinstated, and that was the cause for the delay? I thought I saw that, but please correct me if I’m wrong. If true, that was quite the supplement, whatever it was.

Edit: 3:40 mark. Maybe I’m misinformed.

I cannot think of an OTC supplement that would be in your system for 9 months but I can think of a PED that could.

You guys know you can’t have too much caffeine or you pop right?
Caffeine's half life is about 5 hours. It's detectable for a few days on a urinalysis. Whatever he took was detectable for ~9 months. That kind of narrows things down in the PED world.
The kid got caught. It's not like that isn't also happening on nearly every single team in the country. Anyone getting on their high horse about it is just being hypocritical.

Not arguing that. I’m just saying, it’s pretty strict. Idk what he took that lasts that long. He was a back up anyways so say what you want but he really didn’t play at all outside of a semi game and I’d rather have our starter playing that game clearly. I just love how a 3 game slide leads to college kid bashing on this forum. Projection sucks

Wasn't the "bashing" mostly before the 3 game slide?
