Oregon to Offer Izzo Biggest Contract in History

Great offer, but honestly can it be any better than being at Michigan State? I stick it out with Michigan State, and maybe get a pay raise too.

So much would change for him at Oregon. I honestly do not see Oregon getting the depth of quality players he gets at Michigan State. Out west there just is not the number of big time players as there is further east. Michigan alone is much better for pulling recruits for in state recruits than Oregon ever will be. Stay put Tom!

as a gophers fan i would hate to see tubby take this job, and i really don't think he will. he might not be creating earthquakes, but the program is leaps and bounds ahead of where they were just a few years ago. and i expect them to be pretty good next year too. before he got there the gophers had won 9 games the season before. he led them to 21 wins his first year, and the following year another 20 plus wins. the first time the gophers have EVER had back to back 20 win seasons. it was the largest turnaround in school history, and if i'm not mistaken was the second biggest turnaround of any team in the country that year from the previous year. he has went to the dance the last 2 years, a place they hadn't been since '05. not to mention guiding them to the big ten title game this year after hammering purdue and beating michigan state too. (yes i know they got crushed in the championship! )
he's gettin' rid of the troublemakers, and bringing in quality kids. not to mention the guy is all class.

Was Tubby run out of KU because of recruiting issues? What was the deal there?

he resigned. boosters weren't happy with his recruiting, slow-tempo play, and lack of final fours. who cares that he averaged 26 wins a year and a .760 winning percentage while their head guy. and they haven't been back since he left either. just another example of fans feeling entitled to something and having unrealistic expectations. i don't care how good of a coach you are, or how good of a team you are, you're not going to make the final four year after year. just doesn't happen. so, he was basically run out of town. you know, for sale signs in his yard and all that jazz. but as far as i'm concerned his coaching style and slow tempo ball is perfect with the gophers, and i'd expect him to stick around.

ha. no hidden message there. it's just the way it goes i sports. every fanbase for every team in every sport think that they should be winning chapionships. they forget that there are thousands and thousands of teams in all these sports, and what....100 chapionships to go around? just doesn't make sense and kentucky is a perfect example. they haven't been to a final four forever and they're on their 3rd coach since pitino was there. just goes to show that sometimes you can just keep running out coaches...won't really equal wins all the time. although i'll give the fans slack on the gillespie hire...he's awful!
