Oregon at Stanford

This has been a very entertaining matchup the past few years, so far tonight's hasn't disappointed.

Stanford up 14-0 and pretty much manhandling the Ducks so far.

For teams that want to "establish the run game" this is how you do it.

Nothing against Oregon but I really want to see Florida State-Alabama for the title, that kid from FS is going to be something.
OMG, that's my fear: an Alabama-FSU national championship game. Can't think of a combination in which I would have less interest.

like most years in the recent past...Oregon is a lot of flash, a lot of cocky, and not a lot of anything else.
Pretty much. And those idiots think they'd be competitive against a smash-mouth Alabama team. Good luck with that.

I love offense as much as (more than? any fan. But finesse sometimes just doesn't do it. Baylor has that offensive flash, but they went out and put it to OK physically. The Quackers have seldom proven that they can do that.

I couldn't agree more. SEC vs. ACC, yuck.

If the ducks win this...
Then they will prove they have guts to go with the flash. But they have no time-outs, so their only hope is to force a turn-over (subject of another thread :D ).

Oregon has laid an egg against physical teams for the last few years. Tonights result was not a stretch at all.

hoping to get EWU again for this reason. the Eagles are not soft but i still think the way to win in November/December is with the infantry not the air force.

Stanford playing mean and tough and nasty. I like it. Seems like they might have Jonathan Martin on their minds a bit tonight as well.

Fun game to be at.

- Wa Griz is louder than Stanford Stadium. Wa Griz fans are more in-tune with the game, when to be loud, when to be quiet, etc. Wa Griz has a much better pre-game.

- Stanford's O-line and run-blocking is unreal. They were so strong and physical. Not sure if you'd see it on TV but by the 4th qtr Oregon players were faking injuries to get off the field, they didn't even want to get smashed by that OL anymore. (They'd feign arm or leg injuries, limp off, return the next series).

- Stanford's TOP was 42:00. Wow.

- Also Stanford's D is as good as advertised. They didn't make a lot of mistakes, even against an offense like Oregon's.

- Oregon fans for the most part lived up to their douchey reputation. However on the train ride back we sat/stood with a group that was pretty funny. One of them knows one of the Grizzly assistant Bball coaches. One had been to Missoula and Butte before, talked it up. All knew about Jordy Johnson and were supportive of him.
