Opposing Letters to Editor About Griz

Criticism and support aren't mutually exclusive ideas. Fans have a right to their opinion and have the right to express their displeasure. Its the people that drop their support because of adversity that are the ones that bother me and show their true loyalties. I always see comments like "i'm not donating this year" or "I'm giving up my season tickets" or "I'm spending my money and support else where" that really show what type of supporter they are. I hope that fans will continue to support this team and the University regardless of their opinion on the leadership and keep attending games. Jim O'Day is a great example. Was thrown under the bus, has been very critical of the new leadership, but still attends every game and gives the school and the program his full support.

Interesting post. Kind of a metaphor for eGriz in general - so-called "sugarcoater" compared to so-called "real fan" I guess when it comes right down to it, I'm with the sugarcoaters (though I am only a pedestrian sugarcoater).

2 fans, same game - very different outlook. Which of these letters do you agree with? Personally, I think a not-so-great season after lots of trouble and controversy is a very small price to pay as we improve our image and I still enjoy each game. Too "girly"? Too much sunshine blown up your a$*#s? I love to win, I love it when we dominate but am still loving it and support my team and coaches 100%.

The only time I read the Missoulian, is when I am constipated, and a laxative just won't cut it.

There for can't contribute a comment on the letters, everything is just moving fine at the moment.

Both were right on. Expect more on the down side. Part of sports fans.

Never pile on when guys are down. Yes the coaching is not great. But Delaney is a good man and is doing the best he can. He was thrust into this thing and did not ask for it. The person to bitch and whine about is perhaps Royce Engstrom for not having better thoughts on picking a head coach. He did what he could but most of us think a hugh public ass chewing of Pflugrad and O'day would have fit the crime so to speak. That is what leaders do. Then fire the bast--ds if they do not get in line.

So, expect more cranky letters to the editor in the future about our coaches etc. Is it right? No.
I do agree with you that he (Delaney) is doing the best he can, and that he didn't ask for it, and we should be blaming Royce, but...guess what? Delaney said "Yes" when he could have (and probably should have) said "No." I'm pretty sure he took the job knowing that people would complain if he wasn't doing a good job. Pretty sure that comes with the territory of being a coach.
