Onside Kick

We've got a real genius running our special teams. Two weeks in a row we get caught with our pants down. That probably cost us the game.

Watching the replay I think that was just dumb luck for Sac. St. Looks like he launched a squib that randomly nailed our player. Still our fault regardless

So the key to beating Weber is making then punt right outside their own end zone. The key to beating you guys is to onside kick every time.

I can't wait for next week!

Definitely bad luck. Classic squib kick that hit our guy. It was not an onside kick.

Does it matter?

Regardless, our players were obviously not coached to be ready for it when every montana fan in the world shoulda seen it comin. They were down a TD with 5+ to play and we were eating the clock all day long. Not to mention anyone who seen last weeks recovery. They needed a recovery there. As soon as they scored, I texted my brother that they better be lookin for the onside. Obviously they weren’t with the front line starting to run backwards before the ball was even kicked.

So how do you defend against a kick that hits you in the face?

You catch it.

Thanks for those posting what I thought, but didn't have a chance to really look at. The kickoff recovery was more luck than skill.

If kicking the ball at the opposing team was such a good strategy, we'd see it every weekend. It's not....so we don't.

It's very difficult to reliably hit an opposing player on a KO. Kickers aren't that accurate. Also, it's almost impossible to hit a player and have the ball bounce back to where the KO team can get it. Balls after hitting a player can go almost anywhere. I played ST in college. Had you ever played football at any decent level, you would know that.

Go find some felons to preach to. They might be interested in what you have to say.

So you seem to be saying that the Griz were fully prepared and ready to recover a probable onside kick? I must have been watching a different game...

It was confirmed that it was not an onside kick. Just a hard squib off center. Player couldn't get out of way. The kick usually doesn't hit anyone, and if it does, it still goes down field or out of bounds. Bad luck. UM had just had 2 good KO returns. SS did the same kick last year.
