Isn't EWU-Idaho a "protected rivalry?" How does that fall out of the conference schedule?
That's what I was thinking too but Idaho's has to be Idaho State and Montana. Ewu has Portland State and ?.

EWU-Idaho is protected, beginning next season.

Big Sky Football Rivals (2020-23)

Cal Poly – Sacramento State, UC Davis
Eastern Washington – Idaho, Portland State
Idaho – Eastern Washington, Montana
Idaho State – Portland State, Weber State
Montana – Idaho, Montana State
Montana State – Montana, Northern Colorado
Northern Arizona – Northern Colorado, Southern Utah
Northern Colorado – Montana State, Northern Arizona
Portland State – Eastern Washington, Idaho State
Sacramento State – Cal Poly, UC Davis
Southern Utah – Northern Arizona, Weber State

Are there "protected rivals" for this season in the BSC? Is it listed somewhere?

I think with letting UND hang on, the protected rivals for scheduling have not really existed the past few seasons. Seems that anyone that had UND on their schedule, missed out. Happened to UM last year with EWU also.

So, no "conference protected rivals" conference games this year, but just a previous mandate that the schedules include what would have been "conference protected rival" conference games, but aren't now necessarily conference games, but could sometimes be conference games, even though not against a "conference protected rival", and some non-conference games could be against a "conference protected rival", but not this year?

This is quite possibly the dumbest f*cking conference in the country.

Who would've thought having a 12/13 member conference with no championship game would be problematic?

There's only one way to solve this fucking disaster, get the conference up to 16 teams and have a 4 round tournament to end the season. 2 NC to start, 4 conference games pulled out of a hat, then the big rivalry game, week off, then the tournament based on rankings from the Egriz poll, which would also have to include all BSC teams from 25-?. Winner and loser brackets play to a conclusion including 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc.

Now that I look at it, not really much dumber than the current setup.

I honestly like it more. Seems fair.

So, last week ewooo plays an actual bsc team in a non-conference game.

This week they play a team not in the bsc in a conference game.

#bsc.

That is nearly as weird as my first marriage.

Why I think it would be a good idea for the big sky to split into conferences and base scheduling off of them:

NORTH:
-Montana
-Montana State
-Idaho
-Idaho State
-Eastern Washington
-Portland State
-UNC

SOUTH:
-Weber State
-SUU
-Sac State
-Cal Poly
-Uc-Davis
-NAU
-Dixie State?

Would give each team 6 opponents to play a year and could play 2-3 game a from the other conference each year.

Haslem said the goal is to get the Big Sky to 10 teams. Not sure if that is a plan...or just a goal.

I understand the BSC plan for scheduling in 2024 involves a blindfold and a pinata.

So BSC teams apparently don't have the luxury of filling open days with out of conference opponents. So what would you suggest, no games on weekends they can’t get an opponent? What difference does it make if they play non conference games with conference teams. Because it’s not fair that Ewu doesn’t have to count it as a conference loss? Didn’t we all know how the conference standing would be determined prior to the season?
Just play the damn games and quit acting like a bunch of whinny ass pussy boys. lol:

Hmm, maybe make conference games conference games, and non-conference games non-conference games. Just like a conference that is a conference. Spit-balling here...

So if teams can’t fill an open weekend with an out of region non conference team then what just have fewer games? Again I believe we all knew how the standings would be calculated prior to the season right? So spit ball some more and give us your learned opinion on how to solve this conundrum. Don’t you think if these open weekends don’t get filled with conference teams then they will remain open? Fewer games, would that be better? If Ewu hadn’t lost their non conference game to Idaho would it still matter?

Hey, I was just spit-balling there. You don’t have to snort the spit-ball. I just think that a game between two BSC teams should count for, you know, the BSC standings. Wild thought, I know.

You have made that clear. So in your mind it would be better to have open dates and less games then the status quo? I like more games regardless if you play a conference team twice. If they counted them all as conference games then I believe the open dates would stay open which means less games, less revenue etc., so in your opinion that would be more better? Lol
