One way to keep people in the stadium @ halftime

Not necessarily. I enjoy getting up and stretching my legs and walking out to the GSA for a beer or two and BS'ing with my buddies, who sit elsewhere in the stadium, about the first half. That and I really don't give a shit about marching bands.

Marching bands are what make college football, college football. You are a dork. It appears you don't give a shit about football, either, if it takes half of 3rd quarter for you to get your ass back in your seat. Tailgate before & after games. Stretch your damned legs by standing up, walking up & down the stairs a few times. And, yes, if beer is sold in the stadium, it would take care of that part of your difficulty.

You must be one of the three people, that may attend a football game at WGS to see the band and Monty and MO,

After all the real athletes are the piccolo players in the band, however I do enjoy the drum squad, although not to interrupt, beer, snacks, a sandwich, and conversation with friends about the progress of the games first half and coaching errors.

Aren't YOU the one who said football was a boring game to watch, cowboy??

Why all of the hate for the marching band? I understand it may not be your cup of tea, but they are students that put in a lot of extracurricular work to support their & deserve some respect.

I never said I hated them, I said they just aren't my cup of tea. I agree they work hard at what they do and do deserve respect. I don't think I ever disrespected them.

If you respect them, stay in your seat and clap and yell for them like you do the team. After all, they are UM students who work hard for you. They are as much a part of Griz Pride as anyone. Not only their half-time show, but their playing when they can during the game. Sorry UM can't compete w/ the Ohio State band, but it is UM. Stick around and show your respect for all of UM kids.

Christ! They perform in those heavy uniforms in hot weather, play their horns when their lips practically freeze to the mouthpieces in cold weather. Yet, they still have Griz Pride. They never give up, just like the team shouldn't. What a tough bunch! Pay them your respect by clapping and yelling for them. They'll like it.

shocking...but another ridiculous post. i respect the professors too for busting their asses all year so should i skip the game and head to their classrooms? i respect the people monitoring the tailgates too. should i just hang oit in the parking lot during the game? i respect the people doing all of the work it takes to maintain a great atmosphere outside such as 50-50, concessions, security, etc. should i just hang out with them?

what a stupid comment. i respect the hell out of the band....but i rarely watch them. just like i respect every college athlete including track, tennis, skiing, rodeo, and dance but i rarely get around to seeing them either. i'm assuming you have never missed any griz athletic event then? or do you just not respect those athletes? :o

mean.... :(

1. I believe the players, coaches and games are what "make" college football, not the marching bands. The marching bands do add to the experience. Some people enjoy watching them and some people would rather meet up with friends at half, both are ok.

2. I'm pretty sure I've observed Hammer in his seat at the start of the 3rd quarter or at the very least very shortly after. I do not believe he is one of the people who wait half way through the 3rd quarter to come back in to the stadium.

3. People who pay for tickets can do what they want during the game. Hopefully, they will be replaced with more loyal fans. For me hitting the tailgates at half lets me recharge my batteries and still be loud for the 3rd and 4th quarter, I always try to get back in my seat by 2nd half kickoff. I posted on one of the crowd noise posts that the NEZ was quiet and I was accused of drawing attention away from the game and to myself by being a "superfan". I try not to dictate what other fans should do and would never consider myself a superfan. Now if someone tells me to sit down so they can see the halftime performance by the marching band I will gladly do so. If they tell me to sit down when the Griz are on D then they'll have to drag me down.

Go Griz!

Anyone else notice that our band was playing throughout the "Montana- Grizzlies" chant vs. NAU. I know that at least on the South end of the stadium it pretty much ruined it. It would be nice if the student conductors could be a little more aware of their surroundings. Also, like the PA system, a few new songs would not hurt anyone at all.

A lot of when the band plays is dictated by whoever coordinates the game, advertisements, etc. Especially during pregame... they have nice choice when to play as it is all scripted. As far as music selection... if you have any ideas email Dr. Kevin Griggs. I know he is more than willing to listen to any of your ideas

The GAA should sell wrist bands at their tailgate, in the park, which entitles people over 21, to two beers. The two beers (or whatever) could be picked up at a booth (or two booths depending) inside the stadium served by keg/plastic cups (red solo preferably) which would only open two minutes prior to halftime and end at the start of the 3rd. This may sell more tickets and create additional income for the GAA, keep people in the stadium (why leave for beer when you can have them there?), not create liability issues (2 beers in 3 hours of watching a game shouldn't tip anyone over). Just a thought and probably not well explained but hope you get my drift. Thoughts?

how would they know to limit you to only 2 beers? Are they supposed to remember your face?

I asked the same question at a bar in Spokane, Percy's i think it was called. It is known for its long-island iced teas. Supposedly, you are only allowed 2 of them. i thought i could cheat that policy and sneak in a 3rd but then the first 2 hit me and there was no need for them to police the policy cuz it took care of itself. i never finished #2 and ended up sleeping in the bed of a truck.

Easy, sell two different colored tickets for stadium pick up only or if someone wants two they would have to pick them both up at one time and then cut off the wrist band. No??
