On to Weber

How do these coaches spend their practice time???Youve known all year you struggle against the press? And you don’t change your press breaker? Seriously?
We broke the press just fine, it was Martin not recognizing that there were 2 open options under the hoop, Vazquez especially was wide open. That’s just a lack of execution and nothing more.

What an epic fucking meltdown. That was a complete joke of an ending. Martin should not be inbounding a ball obviously but this loss started the second Moody and Bannan missed some huge free throws in the final minute. Make your ducking free throws and this doesn’t come down to inbounding the ball. Disgusted!

Decuire has got to be on the hot seat doesn't he? It's been several years in a row now of really mediocre to poor play from his teams. I really thought he had something big brewing here, but he's gone down hill badly. Sad, because I really liked him as a coach.

Look how open Vazquez was here. Unbelievable

Overcoached nervous team. Can't get the ball inbounds TWICE at the end. Good free throw shooters miss at the end of games. Why do Griz break every timeout huddle about 15 seconds after the opposing team and refs appear ready to go? Let the damn kids play the game without a tourniquet around them. And design an inbounds play or two. If they don't work at least wing it high to the other end of the court snd see what happens. Kryskos teams used to run the long pass breaker at snd of games. Travis' nervous teams can't get the damn ball inbounds and inbounds passer falls down trying!

It’s been a problem all year with Bannan and Moody missing clutch free throws. Remember when Moody missed both free throws late against Gonzaga to make it a one score game? He and Bannan did the same thing against Eastern too.

Decuire said in the post game that Martin clipped his foot off the basket running the base line which is unfortunate, but when that happens he needs to have the awareness to throw it to the guy right in front of him who’s wide open. Not sure how he couldn’t have seen that, but if he incapable of recognizing all options then he definitely shouldn’t be inbounding the ball.

He just got an extension last year so I don’t think we’re in a position to let him go this year. It is interesting though how the program has just completely fallen off a cliff and why that is. This is kind of similar to the way Randy Rahe’s tenure ended at Weber. He had it rolling for a while and all of a sudden towards the end of his tenure, the wheels completely fell off the wagon and the same thing appears to be happening to Decuire and co. Idk what explains it. This is a talented team and this shouldn’t be happening.

In Martin's defense, he had Bannan break wide open past half court. Had Martin not tripped and got him the ball, Bannan would've had a good chance to run down the clock or guarantee a dunk compared to if he had gotten it to Vazquez, they foul, and even if Josh hits both, WSU would have 3-4 seconds to make a three to tie. I was initially upset he didn't see Vazquez, too, but after rewatching I can see his thinking and don't blame him. Just wish he'd kept his feet. Hindsight is always 20-20, though.

If I were an assistant I’d probly be really worried.

To be fair, your inbounder could not see much that was close to him. All he could see was the defender jumping up and down in his face. He didn't have a TO to use and felt that he needed to get it in to someone. Yes, if he had been able to make a pass to an open guy, the game would have been nearly over. Weber took full advantage of what was given to them. That was still a clutch 3 at the end.

On to MSU. I'm hoping that ISU was able to take a little out of them.

Got home from the men's game and watch the stream of the women's game, won by the GrizWBB 77-74. Amazing how similar the final seconds of the two games played out. Except, of course, that Montana's WBB failed inbounds didn't bite them in the end.

Saw Damian Lillard play tonight live, what a player. Got back to my hotel and saw Weber win the game in SportsCenter Top 10 plays, number 2. There really isn't any crossover there, but I find it funny. I honestly am starting to believe UofM athletic department is cursed. I just don't know how to make sense of it. I don't think they can get rid of Decuire. AND I honestly believe if Decuire had access to Mountain West type players the Griz would be a force. Turns out cutting the budget for the recruitment of basketball players has its downsides. Oh well.

With Rahe's retirement, Travis has to be the highest paid coach in the BSC, especially when you add in the money he gets for money games (which I never liked the optics of, scheduling losses to pad his paycheck). Yet he is being out-recruited, out-coached, and consistently losing to rookie, and far less experienced coaches.

What?

l was at the game as well and l saw the same thing. Bannon's defender got picked at half court and he was wide open running to the other end. At the time l thought maybe the ball slipped out of his hand as Martin threw it. Didn't realize till the post game that he under threw the pass because he tripped. Disappointing loss.

Why do you think the recruiting budget has been cut? Do you know this for a fact?
