On to Nashville

I don't want to get ahead of myself by manifesting anything in Nashville, but I was curious about this as well.

Is our side of the bracket the home or away team in the chipper? Or is there some other way it's decided?

How about flight? anyone know what the best strategy is. Book now? Wait for win and book out of Bozeman?

When I went last year, I booked some refundables before the playoffs started and got a pretty good deal. At this point, there really isn't much of a deal to be had, and because all of the traffic for tickets is coming out of largely the same area, I don't think it will make a difference based on who wins or loses. If you're fine with driving and trying to save money, I would look for tickets just a bit out of the area of Nashville. It's definitely going to be more expensive come Saturday afternoon though, regardless of who wins.

I'm considering just buying a fully refundable flight this week before the game and canceling if we don't make it because I fear that prices will double out of MSO/BZN after the game is over.

Looks like Alaska is onto that plan. Flights into Mephmis weren't a ton cheaper. Atlanta is like 4 hours away; Louisville is close, but has a small airport with few flights.

Bummer. Before I realized that it just logistically wasn't going to work for me, I had seen much cheaper flights leaving Bozeman on the 1st rather than the 3rd of 4th. Extends the trip a bit, which for some wouldn't be possible, but there's a lot to do there so it's not a terrible idea imo.

Well shit, I was too late.

Just checked again, and prices are $500-$800 more than when I looked last week.

Booked my flights this morning - part of a family visit trip I was already making to Tennessee, and we’ll hit the Natty irregardless of who’s playing.

Flights for me and my wife from Missoula to Nashville and back: $3100.

What's ironic is that it appears to be people searching for the fares that is driving the price up. Flights leaving SeaTac are approx $1,000 RT. But when you look into it, the loads on those flights are actually fairly minimal and there are plenty of seats available. But the system tells you there are "11 others looking at this route" so I'm guessing that's driving the algorithm to raise prices

Absolutely is what's happening. That's why it's better to get some refundables really early on. They cost more than a standard ticket, but significantly cheaper than if you try to do it after the semi's.

The problem is getting out of MT. Once you're anywhere else, you're home free, but you gotta figure out where in MT to fly out of.

Depends. I know Nashville routes out of Seattle are sky high (because many Montanans will fly Alaska through Seattle). I would bet the same is true of Denver and perhaps Minneapolis.
