On This Night 4 Years Ago...

Magical night. I still remember walking across the footbridge an hour after the game got over and hearing "Its gonna be a good night" still blaring on the loudspeakers!!! What a night that was!!!

This game still gives me chills to think about and watch. Being at the game was one of the highlights of my life without a doubt. The game play and crowd were amazing. I believe Griz Nation still has this intensity and support in them somewhere.

Bring it every game, every quarter, next season Griz Nation (and players and especially coaches). Leave the fair weather fans and zombies that just sit and quiet the rest of us at home.

Go Griz

It was actually a day game. :thumb: J/K. I agree, one of the most fun times I've ever had. Nothing will top the 1994 McNeese game and the 1995 S.F. Austin game, simply because I was a student for those magical days in Wash-Griz and it was truly the building blocks for what Griz Nation has now, and it just has a different feel to it. But the Appy game is widely considered the greatest FCS/1-AA football game ever contested. A truly special day/night. That was actually part of a very fun ride for me. From the senior day game to Chattanooga, I was there every step of the way in 2009, as I'm sure many of you were.

A very bittersweet night for me. I attended the U in the late 70s (Dornblaser) and even then was a faithful Griz fan. I carried it on throughout the 80s and even though I didn't live in Missoula went to most games. And then when Wa-Griz was born I was pretty much a regular.

On the drive over for the SFA game the week before I was riding with a buddy and we were involved in a pretty bad wipeout near the Jens railroad siding on I-90. I spent the next 8 days at St. Patrick's Hospital.

I didn't get to be at the Appalachian State game, but watched it from my hospital bed. I hate that I wasn't there, but am grateful that we all survived the wipeout.

Since 1995 I have missed 3 Griz home games - two because of that wipeout. Damn, it bugs me I wasn't in the NEZ for that epic game.

I just wonder how we ever beat a great team like App St led by AE when we were not dressed for the weather. App St had long underwear and coats on the sideline........we had bare arms and victory to keep us warm.

Still can't believe that wardrobe malfunction.

mtgriz, sorry to hear that. Those three playoff games were absolutely horrid drives from Havre. I've told my wife many times as we still recall that season, that we were damn lucky to have not gotten in a wreck. South Dakota State game was bone dry going to Missoula, terrible conditions on the Sunday drive home. S.F. Austin game, OK going down, we attempted to go home Saturday night and never made it. Got into a blizzard just north of helena, and I completely lost my bearings. Slowed down to a crawl and about go crushed by a semi who came up on my rear and never saw me. Turned around and spent the night in Helena. Road was horrible still the next morning. Roads were again clear coming to Missoula for the Appy game, but going home was an absolute nightmare. Huge wreck right at the top of Rogers Pass on Sunday afternoon. Hell, the drive to the Great Falls Airport for our flight to Nooga' the next week was terrible conditions too. Just couldn't escape it that season.

Your memories of that night are much clearer than mine.

What a great event; two things come to mind; number one: we sure could use another guy like Reynolds; number two: that was one stout defense; number two(b) in 4 years no one will be looking all nostalgically at this year's defense; your friend, yogi
