Moving forward there are several good aspects of what has happened.
1. The Griz pretty much 'got ahead' of the scandal. We should know that sooner or later there was going to be a national 'outside the lines', or SI story about the Griz similar to how there was about MSU. By taking decisive action before the national story happened, UM appears proactive, even though we know they have been tolerating lax discipline for far too long.
2. The Griz still have a ton of talent.
3. The Griz get to hire a chance prospect for a coach, and if he lights the team on fire and shows himself to be a rare talent then great; if not then he is an 'interim coach' and will be replaced after the season next year.
4. We have the model of what MSU went through to help us. We have already heard, for example, that Pflugrad won't be able to sue UM as Kramer was MSU because we learned from MSU's experience. We can learn from their mistakes, and their successes with handling this.
Griz will be fine, and I'll be in the stands next fall, whatever happens.
