I have a solution, but people get angry when I say it. It's very simple...you cap it. Whatever that is...my suggestion was 100k per player one time. Then, the 2-4 years they can earn up to another 100k. So if you're a QB1 and 5* second coming of Super Dave, you may get 100k. It levels the major school field, and forces them to earn things on the field.

Only then, the P5 schools/boosters will just start giving them what would have been NIL money under the table like before.

Yep, but I think it would "stop" the recruiting and up front money that was available. Then they could actually get in trouble for it instead of literally buying players.

It would "stop" it as far as we would know. Sure, they could get in trouble by going back to the old way, but that didn't stop them then. Every major program had a bagman. Cam Newton was a guest on a podcast I listened to last week and talked about why he flipped from Miss State to Auburn. It took everything in his power to not to say exactly what we all know. It was something like, "Ah, well, uh, I'm not sure I should say too much *laughs*, but I liked the environment more?"

The only difference now is it's "allowed".

Oh I totally get that too. I think the portal is the bigger issue and essentially it's free agency. Combined with $$$, it's a $#!% show.

College Football in its current form is unsustainable.

Without regulation there will be many more hurt in the long run than those that gain.

That is all

FWIW over on Bisonville and r/fcs subreddit they are talking about players leaving before the playoffs are even over from teams still in it. Glad we haven’t heard that around here yet but yikes!

How many Cats can Choate persuade down to Reno, Nevada?

I wonder if one or both those oline guys might be planning that exact thing. I wonder if Choate will get Armstrong to come over from Fresno, he did wonders with oiline and I bet those 2 loved him

NDSU had that happen last year too, IIRC. Several guys left mid-playoffs.

I don’t hate it. Always been an advocate for the players in general and now with NIL go get that money.

I have small personal ties to Omar as he’s friends with my daughter. I’m all for him doing what’s best for him and making some money. He’s a great kid.

As long as we’re FCS I just don’t see a better way than wishing our best kids luck if they choose to go up a level; and hoping we get the same in return from FBS kids dropping down.

Don’t know why people get worked up about this still

If a player wants to hit the portal for personal reasons or to have a shot at money or better opportunities…..etc….I have no problem with that. But when those decisions are made by said player in response to active recruitment and money offered from other teams while the player is still enrolled and on another team, that’s where I draw the line. There’s a lot of that going on now , and it’s absolute horsesh*t.. That’s not even allowed in professional football for christs sake. They need to get some F***ing gaurdrails in place already.

For me it’s not about the coming and going (although THAT wouldn’t be for ME)…it’s about the timing…guys leaving in the middle of a playoff run? Just seems weird…like couldn’t they open the portal later? i get that these guys may want to transfer over winter break, so there’s no REAL good answer for this, but it sure seems disruptive…I guess not so much for the ‘Scats though… :D :D :D

I don't know about anyone else but I had a busy weekend with some personal family health issues. I did get to watch the game. Yes, very disappointing but a good game. Also, very disappointed with how the season ended. Time to focus on next year. The Cats have a lot of players returning. Hopefully the portal and NIL won't have to big of an impact.

Got to watch some of the Griz game. Good win. They have a great opportunity to get to Frisco. It has been a great turn around for them. I wish them luck!
Very sorry to hear of the health issues. Hope all is well, 33,

I agree 100% with EG. bigsky33 is a welcome scat fan here on egriz.
