Olson - Anderson

Man, even that number could mean bad/good things depending on which side you’re on.
I mean, if he had 70 rush yards, I don’t want it to be because he pulled up 2-3 times on what would have been 30-yard scampers only to deliver 70-yard bombs against an aggressive and stacked box.

But, the Griz do have a safety whose play would have you believe he’s a linebacker...
Tons of tackles upfield, that one.

well that would be obviously fun for me. but I wasn't thinking of that great scenario when I commented. we haven't shown we can throw. at all. but we run well and have been really mixing up formations and getting creative lately which I guess is nice.

but if we throw like we've shown we can throw and somehow TA is held to 70 rushing....you'll win by 50. Holding TA to 70 rushing would be like me expecting to hold snead to 120 passing because I like our front 7. just don't see it happening.

Anderson has made the most of his skill set at QB as the season has progressed. Seeing Troy as a spy on Sneed would not surprise me this week. Killer speed combined with a win at all costs attitude and likely the last game of the year. The Griz have struggled when Sneed is bottled up. Hopefully we have the answer!!!

TA is the best athlete I've seen on a BSC football field in a long time. I don't know assigning a spy is a solution. Most of his runs are immediate run plays. Not draws, delays, or broken down pass plays. Teams have to stack the box and try to get in the backfield before he gets a full head of steam. Get guys in gap assignment and win the LOS. Don't like the idea of assigning a guy to read and react on a QB like TA. He's too fast and explosive. Need to beat him to the running lanes and contain.

I really like TA, but he hasnt played against Linebackers like Montana has. We have the 2 best linebackers in the BigSky, playing at the same time. This is going to be a tough day for TA.
I would argue that both SDSU and Weber have better LB's as a whole and better front 7 than UM. I would even argue that UNC's front 7 is better than UM's.

Not dissing your guys but just what I have seen from watching our games and most of yours

I have praised Troy Andersen's football skills, while bad mouthing his QB skills, since the beginning. He was a very successful starting high school QB for two or three years. Though his passing skills were poor then and are still very poor. Since this is no secret I have to believe the bobcat offense will intentionally come to town with a few new passing plays to try to burn the Grizzlies.

He was the same in high school as he is in the Big Sky. His speed, size, and instincts make it exceptionally hard for opponents to stop him on the ground. That said, he actually can throw a decent pass. He just can't seem to do it more than three or four times in any given game. At some point after selling out on stopping the run they will try long passing attempts. So I hope we're playing a deep safety who'll keep them all in front of him and avoid a cheap cat touchdown. Those should be our opportunities for interceptions.

Murray- PR 100m- 11.7. 200m. 24.3
Andersen- PR- 10.88. 200m 23.4

Are you sure Murray is faster? Andersen may not be as shifty but possibly he chooses not to be and chooses contact. But he has truly elite speed.

Perhaps we need Sulser to spy him.   At least he'd be able to catch him!

sulser has been caught from behind more than a couple times this season. he's fast and shifty, but definitely not the fastest guy on the field, at least football-speed wise.

Maybe multiple reasons he was caught but he is ridiculous fast as well. He was competing with Damien Nelson in the 100m fresh and soph years and was right there with him. Gabe basically stopped running the 100 after soph year. Damien has the record fastest 100m in the state of MT all time. Not sure Gabe would have kept improving times like Damien did but still would have improved some I am sure. Stuck to hurdles junior and senior year.

Gabe ran 14.22 in the 110m highs at state last year .02 off the state record. That is really fucking fast.

MSU has made our linebackers look terrible the last 2 years, including Buss. Hoping Dante will not let that happen this year.

Our last “defensive coordinator” kept pretending that the cats had a qb that could actually throw. Hopefully our current defensive coordinator realizes that is not the case.

Do you mean like short bursts of speed or speed and lateral movement as being football fast? I think Gabe can do it all if given more opportunities. Scratching my head why he hasn’t been featured more knowing he’s not gonna redshirt. Use em before we losem.

Both guys are really really fast. Both teams would take both kids in a split second. both are going to be real fun to watch the next couple years.

I'm afraid I don't recall him being "caught from behind" this year.

...of the 6,931 stupid things you have posted on e-griz, you have hit a new benchmark on this one. Wow, just wow.

It seems like Miller is focusing on what we do well, running, and not trying to do things with Troy that he either can't do well enough, or not at all. If you can't throw the ball, okay, but we weren't being very creative in the run game, on top of throwing the ball in situations where running might've netted us a 3 yard gain instead of an incomplete pass.

Basically it was just try and get Troy going passing the ball, and then just Troy left, Troy right. Now we seem to be limiting the head scratching calls (not gone completely), and we are figuring ways to get other guys going. Logan Jones is healthy and looking good, Ifanse runs harder than any other Big Sky back I can think in recent memory, and then you pepper in Jonsen who is a big, fluid athlete and Kassis, who is shifty and can make people miss, and all of the sudden your one-dimensional offense is at least much more dynamic.

It's good to see us get the TEs involved since Miller took over too, I mean those are safety nets for QBs. And for some odd reason we never used them. Curtis Amos might be one of the best blocking TEs in the league.

he was caught from behind the second time he ran the fly sweep. it was a good gain, though. he also got caught from behind last week. didn't see anybody in front of him slowing him down last week. there was definitely no one the other time. there were a couple more times.

again, i didn't say he was slow or was a bad player or anything like that - just that he got caught from behind. which he did.
