Offensive: Kay Li Ah Yat, outstanding play in this one
Defensive: Solomon Tuliaupupu, very strong defensive play throughout
Special Teams: several different players made contributions but Finch came out on top
Play Of Game: Statue of Liberty Ah Yat/Gillman- a thing of beauty
My take on round two games that had the outcome I thought was likely or possible:
Montana/SDSU: I expected the griz would win. SDSU is not the team of old. Montana played a strong game but their opponent was a 14 seed for a reason.
NDSU/Illinois State: not as big of upset as made out to be. Illinois played the bison close in their first game and after watching the NSDU box scores throughout the season it seemed they were beatable
Cats/Yale: played out as I expected. Yale was good enough to get here but not good enough to win
Tarleton state / North Dakota : Tarleton state is good and could make a deep run while ND is not
Villanova/Lehi: it was a good even matchup with Villanova coming out on top
South Dakota/Mercer: Mercer was overrated as usual - South Dakota blowing them out not expected but watching game film it is clear why
SFA/Abilene C: bottom line SFA has a good QB who wants a Griz matchup in the worst way and could give the cats all they can handle
UCDavis/R.I. : FCS eastern teams have a tough time hanging with western teams. Most belong in D2 .I questioned if UCDAVIS should be in the playoffs but now I also question if R.I. should have been and certainly not with a bye.
