I remember that the Women's Gym was still around in 1962 because a group of us in Phil Hess' Radio-TV Journalism class originated what was purported to be the first telecast of a UM football game as a closed circuit effort. I and a color guy did the PBP from the Dornblaser press box and the signal was fed though a makeshift studio in the Women's Gym. Probably all of maybe 50 - 75 people in the gym - and as I faintly recall - in the Liberal Arts building viewed our bare bones production. It was the Griz-Cat game and needless to say the picture was black and white provided via some hand me down cameras and monitors.
