Now that it is all over (supposedly), where do we go from here? As a Griz fan, there is no real right way for this to wrap up. No story book ending. JJ has a blueprint before him laid out by Jimmy Wilson proving that as a whole, Griz Nation is as supportive a bunch as you will find in this great country. There are no winners in a situation like this, only survivors left to pick up what pieces they can and move forward.
The more I think about this whole situation, the more I realize that the entire system utterly collapsed on this this one. I want to blame Engstrom, I want to blame Florio, I want to blame the County Attorneys office, I want to blame society as a whole for the desensitization of sexual assaults in general. But there is no one to blame. There is no reason whatsoever that this episode should have been thrust into the spotlight and sensationalized other than the fact that there was already a powder keg of ineptness by the University and the city in other incidents of sexual assault that pushed them to go after JJ in the most public way possible. Mission accomplished, but I have to say it backfired.
I for one hope that JJ comes back and finishes school here and hopefully has success on the field. No matter what, I just want him (and her for that matter) to be able to go forward and have a positive experience in the Missoula community. Heres to 2013 being filled with stories of FOOTBALL and no more bulls@%&. GO GRIZ!!
